And Mom is still giving me gifts

So, I am finally going through more of mom's stuff.

Back in 91 I was broke and gave mom a journal for Christmas. In it I asked her to write her thoughts and memories....whatever she wanted. I also quoted part of a song that she and I used to sing together....a Helen Reddy song (most of you won't know who I am talking about) called You and Me Against the World. We loved that song back when I was about 8. We did everything together and lived in Hollywood alone when I was acting for a year while Dad looked for a job in the LA area. The first part of the song had a little girl voice saying "Tell me again mommy"....so I ended my note in the journal with the same thing. On the last page I wrote " I love you mommy" per the end of the song.

Well, mom wrote in it and I never knew it. I found it yesterday. She began the journal saying "yes my dear, I will tell you again" and then she gave me her 1st Christmas memory. From there she gave me memories, current emotions, a letter to my Great Grandmother whom she was missing 5 weeks after her death.......and at the end she followed my " I love you mommy" with, I love you my darling daughter....more than life itself. You are and always will be my shining star".

Yes, I cried. I bawled. She wrote to God, said prayers, praised my cousin's pregnancy, bragged about her 1st doll.....everything.....and it was a gift to me. A gift that maybe she didnt know that this would be the best Christmas gift that I have ever would recieve.

The very last pages she wrote a plea to God, to give her peace and to make her happy. To allow her to be a better person and not such a stubborn child. She prayed for her life....my God. I just miss her....and wish that I would have hugged her mre when I could.

What an awesome gift that you will treasure always. Whenever you miss talking with her you can pull this out and read it.

What a special gift. My heart just aches for you. She is with you and you found that now for a reason. You have something that you will be able to cherish for the rest of your life and pass it on to your children.

What an AWESOME thing to find!
I remember when I was going through my moms things, and I found a card that said "To my daughter on her first mothers day". I knew that my mom would give me that card the next year for mothers day (she knew I was pregnant before she died). I wish there were still things for me to *find*.
I agree.....what an awesome christmas present! You couldn't have asked for anything better than that!
I'm thinking about you, and sending prayers your way.
**hugs**

What a special gift Kandi. Now, whenever you miss your mom you can read that and know that she is always with you.
