Well, I've been meaning to post this for a while, so here goes:

I started having contractions on Tuesday night (June 14th), so I called the on-call doc. He told me to take some Tylenol and relax and if I felt like coming in, they'd definitely take a look at me. So, I took some Tylenol and went to sleep (amazingly). I woke up around 2 AM and was still having contractions. They were hurting, but not too bad, so I didn't wake up dh until 5. I told him I wanted to go get checked out because I had a gut feeling that something wasn't right. (last "gut feeling" I had was when I was 12 wks preggo, and my appendix was rupturing.) So we went to the hospital and checked in. They hooked me up to all the monitors. We just kinda hung out until 8 when my doctor got there. He checked me out and said that while I was having true contractions, I was not dilated AT ALL. However, he said that her heartbeat was fluctuating quite a bit, so they wanted to monitor me for a few hours. He said he was sending in a high-risk obstetrician to look at me around 2 that afternoon. We didn't make it that far, though. Around 1:40, two nurses rushed into my room, flipped me on my side, put an oxygen mask on me, and paged my doctor. They wouldn't tell me or dh what was wrong. When my doctor came in the room he told me Hannah's heartbeat had dropped down to 60 and had not come back up. He said we had to do an emergency c-section. Dh called my parents and his, and our preacher, and put on his scrubs. They gave me a spinal tap(which surprisingly didn't hurt) and started the operation. Being numb from the waist down is the weirdest feeling in the world. I just remember laying there praying to God that my baby would be okay. She was born at 2:17, weighing 6 lbs 6oz, and 18 3/4 inches long. I burst into tears as soon as I heard her first cry. It was definitely the most beautiful, amazing moment of my life.
