<3 ya gals!
juliema 04-20-2008 Sunday, 12:01 PM I have some (starter that is) I need to get rid of. I'm actually on day 10 right now. :) I'd be happy to bring some if you'd like!
TwinmomPlusOne 04-20-2008 Sunday, 12:02 PM I baked my first batch the other day! It is so yummy! I have 2 bags of starters I need to give away still, want some?
TwinmomPlusOne 04-20-2008 Sunday, 12:08 PM I forgot to add, that it does take 10 days to make, but most of those days consist of mushing the bag once a day. It's really easy!
Caseymae82102 04-20-2008 Sunday, 12:19 PM I would love some :) TY you ladies :)
SamanthaLei 04-20-2008 Sunday, 01:01 PM MMM that bread is soo good!
jewelrylady 04-20-2008 Sunday, 01:34 PM I would love some....I've been wanting to try this. Does anyone have any left?
TwinmomPlusOne 04-20-2008 Sunday, 01:37 PM I do! 2 bags. Then on baking day, you make 4 more starter bags, so I'll have 3 more in 7 days. Where do you guys want to meet?
Nugetspice 04-20-2008 Sunday, 05:40 PM I have a recipe for making this from scratch without the starter, but I personally think it's better from the starter...make sense? Let me know if anyone wants the recipe, and I'll locate it and post!
juliema 04-20-2008 Sunday, 05:43 PM Stacey, I'd be happy to drop one by for you tomorrow if you'd like. :thumbup

TwinmomPlusOne 04-20-2008 Sunday, 07:10 PM Umm ... What is it? Sounds interesting but I have never heard of this before.
It's a starter mix of a bread that gets passed around. I got a bag about 2 weeks ago from a friend with instructions. Most days you just mush the bag. Day 5 or so, you add sugar, flour, and milk. Then you mush until day 10. You add some ingredients, then put one cup each in 4 bags. You are left with a cup of the starter, and add more ingredients, then bake and enjoy. It is soooo good! Then you give out 3 bags with instructions, and keep one for yourself so you can bake every 10 days. Or you can give them all away if you don't want to make more, but you'll have to wait until someone gives you a bag again, the starter mix is a secret.
Christine 04-20-2008 Sunday, 07:18 PM Ah! Thanks for the explanation! (I think :lol ) :thumbup
maternus.aeternum 04-20-2008 Sunday, 07:19 PM i have about 20 bags of starter in my freezer hibernating right now for anyone who sees me regularly they can grab. it's super easy and i sometimes wouldn't wait 10 days. as soon as it's got it's little bacteria buggies swimming around in there, you can make it every couple days. i got burned out on it and thus froze it all. haha
it's also very forgiving and if you forget about it for a few days, no biggie.

Ahh, good to know that you can freeze it...I didn't even think about that....I figured once you make your bread and give it away, you just have to wait until someone else gives it to you :lol

Oh, and lemon pudding with lemon drizzle icing....super yummy! I'm not sure how to do pumpkin since it calls for pudding....pumpkin would be good if you could figure out how to modify the recipe to add pumpkin pie filling or something....:hungry Now I am totally wanting some!!!!
Shananigans 04-20-2008 Sunday, 09:07 PM I need a starter! I made this for the first time last week. My neighbor gave me a starter and this was the first time I made the actual bread and it was to die for!!! I threw away the starters I got out of my batch. oops. I had noone to give them to and didn't think to freeze them. So now I need another starter. Anyone??
juliema 04-20-2008 Sunday, 09:11 PM You don't need to modify for pumpkin, you just add a can of pumpkin in addition to the pudding. :thumbup

No, that bag I brought you is basically day 10. So you would need to bake a loaf, and split it into 4 bags and start those at day 1. :) I would have brought you a day 1 bag, but I didn't have time to split it up, and I figured this way you can have a loaf of bread right away. :thumbup
CathyAnn 04-22-2008 Tuesday, 09:09 AM I may need to visit Amba soon. :)
