Gas prices cramping your lifestyle?

I'm just curious if anyone else is having to make budget adjustments because of gas prices? At what point will you change your lifestyle to accomodate the rising prices--$3/gallon or more? Dh takes my car to work everyday that I don't need it, so that we don't have to fill up his gas-guzzling truck as often. His truck fills up at around $60 right now, and he commutes about 30 minutes to work.

With him graduating and changing jobs, we are definitely going to be looking at a place to live that is no more than 20 minutes from work, wherever we end up moving!

Oh yeah! They are def. cramping my life! I dont leave the house a bunch, but Im definatly thinking about where I need to go and whether I actually need to go. I drive a suburban, and though I dont have the $ to fill up, I think its about $70 to fill up. Im greatful my dh works so close to home. For years he's worked about 45 minutes away, but within the oast year got a job in Mesquite, so we save that way. Thats one thing thats scaring me about school next year.If I have to go 30 minutes one way (easily) then its going to kill my pocketbook.

What happened at Lakewood. I hate it that Stonewall stopped taking transfers:(

Same here too. I'm trying to stay home a little more, but my husband works in Frisco-which is a 45 minute commute each way! and shows houses at night and on the weekends, so he uses a lot of gas.
He seemed to see this coming though because last year he traded in his truck and got a new car that gets awesome gas mileage and I got a minivan that gets okay gas mileage. We also put all our gas on a Texaco card, but we switched to a RaceTrac card since Texaco has the most expensive gas around. I sure wish gas prices would go down though....we're wanting to go to Destin in June, but if they dont' go down even a little, then we'll be staying in Texas instead! :(

I drive a little Saturn, DH drives a little Honda Civic. I stay at home and he only works 20 minutes away. I literally haven't had to put gas in my car since we moved here (end of January). :lol

He says he wants to get a truck when his Civic dies, but it's only a two year old car. Aside from totalling it, those things take forever to run into the ground. I was thinking that when mine died I would look for a mom-mobile. Then I thought...we're only going to have one or two kids. Why would I need one?

Plus, as little as I drive mine it's probably going to last another 4 or 5 years.

I guess we have just adapted to it already :( I hate paying this much for gas but life goes on! DH has 45 min to 1 hour commute each way but I have been trying to stay closer to home a little more! We do have 2 smaller cars so we get around 350 to the tank! I was hoping it will go down more soon we want to go on vacation!!

Now that DH is home, his truck is killing us. It takes $60.00 to fill and gets awful mileage. He is finally realizing that it is much cheaper to run around in my car.

I'm much less likely to leave my "neighborhood" to do things if I don't have to. I am more likely to think about whether it is something that I need to do or want to do. If it is just a want, I'll frequently skip it.

Yeah, I was bummed too! Lakewood told me that they are full, and will not know until August whether they will have space for my kids or not. Probably not until after school starts. So, as of right now, I have no idea what to do. I won't leave my kids in this school. I may just pull them this summer and pray that God will open a door somewhere. If nothing else, Im trying to keep the whole Richardson thing open as an option. I dont want to have to drive that far every day

I have to agree that we've just gotten used to it. Although I would like to have the price lower I've just come to accept it them. I keep reminding myself that although the prices are high I have paid a lot more in other parts of the world in the past.

Oh is it! Between two V8's gas prices are draining us big time. Hubby works near downtown Dallas, shows our investment property in the evenings and on the weekends AND drives all around town for his second job signing people up for a new competitive energy service (electricity). He uses a tank of gas every few days and it takes about $50 to fill it up. Takes about the same to fill up my Tahoe, but one tank lasts me a couple of weeks. We are actually discussing trading down vehicles just to save some gas money.

I cant complain because back in England we pay $5 a gallon for gas.

We have not had to change our ways simply b/c DH's office is at the InfoMart and we live maybe 3-4 miles from it, so his "commute" is 8 mins from our door to his office door. I work in Richardson, but my car gets great gas mileage and I only have to fill up once a week. We both drive cars that take the high octane (supreme) gasoline. I try to fill up at Costco versus Exxon.
