I am about to have knee surgery and will be having a spinal so I will be numb for about 6-8 hours after surgery. While all of this is going on I will also be on AF so I wasn't sure if the surgery center has "rules" for tampon users or what I will have to do. Does anyone know? Any ideas/thoughts would be VERY helpful since I am clueless, LOL!!!

I would guess they would not want you wearing a tampon just in case you should go into shock from it during the surgery. TSS. I'd just call and ask to speak to a surgery nurse at the hospital.

I had a minor procedure (endoscopy), so no spinal, but I was put under. They allowed me to wear cotton panties during the procedure. I would imagine it would be no problem to wear cotton panties with a pad during yours... just mention it to them.
I read somewhere that you probably should not wear a tampon, but that it was simply because of the after effects of being drugged and possibly forgetting to change it out. Or I guess, if something goes wrong and you are under for longer than expected.
Either way, I'd be sure to ask the nurse or doctor prior. Usually you have a pre-op appt or phone call, so you could ask then.
