Early labor?

Marci
07-13-2007 Friday, 02:51 PM
Okay, question.....(sorry for all the questions lately). :)

I've had contractions for several days now, but it's been nothing unbearable. I can walk and talk through them. They hurt a little, nothing serious. Wednesday and Thursday, for several hours in a row when I'd time them, they were 12 minutes apart. But then I got sick of timing them. Today, in the last 30 minutes or so, they were 7 minutes, 10 minutes, 8 minutes, and another 8 minutes. Is this considered early labor? I'm confused though, because it isn't the kind of pain I had when I was in labor with Madison.....but I'm already at 3cm, so these have to be somewhat real???

I'm confused. :lol I know I don't need to rush to the hospital anytime soon, I was just curious if this was considered early labor.

Sounds like you're getting really close! :) I went to the hospital when I had tears in my eyes. But, I'm a wimp. I had fever with all of them and they kept me and induced. I'm weird. :lol

COuld be.... just wait till the contractions are stronger. How long are they lasting?

Oh I am getting excited!

Marci

It's probably nothing.....since I have been having these for awhile, and only semi-constant since Wednesday. Who knows! Oh, and Anuschka, they aren't very long....probably 30 seconds or so.

I did this for a few days with my last daughter. I left work on Friday because I was having so many...did it all weekend long...didn't get much sleep. I went to my doctor on Monday and she thought I had been in labor all weekend. We left her office and went to eat a Kincaid's burger (those in FW will know!). Then I took dh home and went to pick the kids up from school and make a last trip to Target. I could barely walk in Target. I got home and got the kids to my sister's and barely made it to the hospital on time. I was a 9 when I got there. I kept thinking that it was hurting, but didn't think I was that close. Sorry for rambling. But that is exactly what happened with me. No consistency for a couple of days and then it happened. Good luck...how exciting!!!

Arg! You know what I got? Ive got NOTHING! Nothing to report - no false labor, no lost plug, nada, zip, zilch on the signs!

I don't mind waiting . . but really MISERY LOVES COMPANY & my company is all going into labor.

Aww Cheryl :hug

You could still beat both of us! You may bend over to pick up a sock off the floor and ***POOF*** labor! Then you'll have a little one crowning while Marci is at home waiting for 5-1-1 and I am waiting for some pattern to my random contractions so I can at least start timing them or for Monday to come! :thumbup

Hey, you only have 2 days. :)

Anyway, so if this is early labor, why isn't it hurting me that bad? I mean, I remember with Madison, I was IN PAIN at 3cm. ????

A friend of mine didn't hurt with #2 even after her water broke. Of course the doc said it didn't break fully so he let the rest out and bam she was hurting. Sorry...not trying to scare you. She did have him in her arms 30 minutes later :) So 30 minutes of pain...oh I'd so take that!

that is how labor with alice started. felt like my period on sunday/monday. lost my plug on tuesday. have light contractions tues, weds, and thurs, thursday night they got a bit stronger and hard labor started late friday morning, she was born friday night. she was posterior which is what i think made my labor so drawn out.

With Aidan i Lost it a week before but with Phoenix I lost it and labor started that night.

I would so be headed to the hospital :lol With Lauren I had the same symptoms and they were rolling their eyes at me. They were going to monitor me an hour before they sent me home. ANd then nearly an hour later my water broke OMG.....that was nasty (mecconium) and I"m glad that happened on their bed instead of my bed or in my car.

I bet it starts tonight.....could be early on the 14th to the night of the 14th - but it's a new moon tomorrow!!! I'm putting my money on "this is it"

Carol

Not much longer now! You don't seem bothered enough by the contractions yet. :giggle I think you need to hit the point where you're sooo tired of false labor and then you'll finally go into labor. That seemed to be what happened with me anyway! Tomorrow would be a cool birthday for one of these babies!

Leah
07-13-2007 Friday, 06:49 PM
I didn't hurt at all with my contactions, I just knew something was happening so we went to the hospital and I was at 4 cm. I really didn't feel anything because they almost immediately gave me the epidural because of twins and possible c-section.

I hope it comes soon for you Marci, I know you are ready!

07-13-2007 Friday, 06:52 PM
Well, Marci, if you wait 'til Monday, Nathan will have the same birthday as Josh. :D Somehow I don't think you really want to wait, though...

Actually, if you're the first to have your baby, that will be funny, 'cause I voted for you in the poll! Go ahead & prove me right! :)

Wishing you the best for whenever he comes!

Marci
07-13-2007 Friday, 09:34 PM
You guys are all getting my hopes up! :)
The contractions are still here, but like I said before, nothing too painful. I mean, they aren't comfortable, but they don't HURT. Ya know? I stopped timing them around 4:30, but I am still having them pretty regularly! I'm still not feeling it for tomorrow, but we'll see!

Oh, and I THINK I've lost my mucous plug - it came out in pieces......

Melissa
07-13-2007 Friday, 09:40 PM
With Kiley, I wasn't in pain with my contractions until after 4 cm so since you are still contracting I wouldn't rule anything out.

Every labor is different. I always tell people to go for a walk and take a bath. If they satay steady and get longer and stronger through that try laying down. If you're in labor~nothing will change it. Position of the baby can make a huge difference in how your labor feels(and staying relaxed).

I was like that with all of mine for a couple of weeks. I am sure that it is the reason my labors were so fast!
With two of my four, I was in the hospital with "false" labor.
I will stick to my comment that if you are able and willing to time them (and post about them ;)), then it is still very early labor and it is not the real deal yet.

I know it's not the real deal....I know what labor feels like. I was just wondering if this was considered "early" labor since I was already dilating so much and having such constant contractions.
