How do you get a dog to go poo outside???? Or at least let us know WHEN she has to go?

They can be outside for a couple of hours and she'll come in and poo on the floor behind my back. I'm supposed to keep them crated at all times except to go outside but I feel guilty doing that, but maybe that's what I still need to do? Tim did that for the whole time I was gone and they did fine. I was hoping she was broken from that by now.

I say "She" because Sam seems to be doing well but Shylah is following after her mother!! grrrrrrr

Suggestions?

You need to crate them. All times unless they are on a leash with you (short leash, like 3-4 feet).

Freedom is *earned* not given. Everything--from food to outside time to spending time in other rooms--needs to be earned.

You'll never stop it until you let them know who is boss. And I don't mean in a mean/abusive way, they need to learn quickly who the alpha dog is and want to please you.

Crate training is the fastest and most effective way to do it. If you see them poo and pee outside, you can leave them out a little while so that they're not crated all the time.

I think you can use newspaper, but that takes alot longer to do. Good luck!

Not sure about the poop part alone, but in general, I would say to crate her any time you cannot keep at least one eye on her. When you are ready to focus attn on her, remove her from the kennel/crate and take her outside right away. (I actually started with my dog by telling her to "go potty". Now she pottys on command! Not a thought out thing, but cool nonetheless.) When you bring her back in, watch her. If she starts smelling around, take her out right away. If she actually squats, sternly say/scream "no" and pick her up immediately and take her out. When you have to cook, leave the house or cannot watch her for any reason, she goes back in the crate. Don't feel guilty as this is a short term process. Hopefully. It takes time, commitment and follow through. Some dogs are much easier than others to break, too, so keep that in mind. Good luck.
