Global Warming Tourism...

It saddens me to see that people still don't get it.

This article (http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2007/05/03/939/) just has DUH! written all over it!

Unfortunately that is just our society....slowing down to see the accident, running out to the street when you see a cop car with someone pulled over, watching "cops" ON tv, buying news publications that glorify brutal murders by showing the body outline and blood on the sidewalk, buying/watching news/publications that glorify the MURDERER! (just think of how many time the Virgina Tech murderer was shown on TV and in print with his guns and paraphanalia...sorry I'm still fuming about that...)....it's absolutely sickening, but it's just something become acceptable for some reason.

I don't know if "we" (society) will ever really get it.

and i agree with tracey - the whole reason i don't watch/read/buy anything the news. i can't stand it. all of it sickens me.

That's crazy. Would it be hoping too much that people who go on something like this will then feel compelled to change their ways?

i couldn't read the whole thing b/c brendan wanted me to read him a book but i don't see it as ENTIRELY bad.
I grew up in that area (in Keflavik Iceland) and the area is incredible. To see first hand what global warming is doing to such a beautiful area of the world may actually be enough of an eye opener to make people realize that it really is a problem.

I think of global warming like I think of sex in middle schoolers. You hear about it, but you can't quite believe it's happening until you experience/see it first hand. You know that 8 year olds are losing their virginity, b/c you hear about it ALL THE TIME. but until you meet an 8 year old who really HAS had sex, it's hard to really believe. Just like Global Warming. a Lot of people don't recognize the effects of it, and maybe seeing such an extreme case of the fallout from GW will help them get a grasp on the problem and make an impact.
I have to say, though, noone loses out by being in Greenland. The northern lights and the wildlife there is incredible - a once in a lifetime experience to say the least.
