I am making meatloaf for dinner tonight, but I forgot to buy bread crumbs. Can I substitute crushed crackers? Or, should I toast bread and crumble that?

I wish I knew the answer, Nicole. Unfortunately for my family I don't cook (not sure if it's cause I don't know how or cause I just don't enjoy it). But I hope the 'loaf is good tonight ;) I'll be opening a can of Chicken Noodle Soup.

Either would work Nicole :) I use crackers all the time

Yeah, either would work. I usually toast bread and crumble it up.

Absolutely! You could use a lot of different things to hold it together..I once used a mixture of potato chips and crackers....and you can't really tell the difference! I make my chicken fried steak with a batter mixture of flour and saltines.

Shirelle, you'll have to tell me how you do that exactly. I batter my own chicken fried steak too, but it's just the old "flour, egg, flour" kind. I'd love to try something different.

By any chance do you make homemade gravy too? This is one thing I just can't seem to get the hang of...:confused

crackers are fine. or you can use powdered potatoes or leftover real mashed potatoes or even unsweetened corn flakes or rice krispies will work.
