We are going home for Christmas, so I am trying to figure out what to do for Faith & presents & Santa. We aren't going overboard this year (thank God after the PBK Kitchen series last year), but I still don't want to drag stuff to Canada to drag it back home--two games, My Little Ponies, the Ariel Sparkle Light doll & chariot, etc.
Do you think a 4 year old would buy into Santa leaving her a little gift in Canada and a note saying that he knew Mommy & Daddy had to fly back to Texas, so he is leaving her surprises at her house? I can have Shaun set their gifts out after I leave & before he does so that when we get home, it looks like Santa has been there.

Danny would buy it. I think Faith would too:)
One year we traveled (we totally surprised Dan's parents and just showed up at their door on Christmas) We flew out Christmas morning... so we did Christmas morning on Christmas Eve. Worked out great.

I think she would buy it, but she may be disappointed that she didn't get it on Christmas!
When I travelled with Alex one year, Santa came before we left.

I thought of that too, but we leave on the 15th and I'm not prepared to do Christmas that early. My family will more than make up for her leaving a few gifts to open at home, thankfully. I'm not sure she will even notice anything is missing.

When I was a kid, we went to Hawaii one year for Christmas. Santa left us a note saying our presents would be waiting for us when we got home. We put our socks out in Hawaii & they were filled with a couple souveniers (sp?), so that was fun. It was a really fun year because we basically had another Christmas when we got home.

I like that idea.

I think we are going to go with the note and fill my parents and brother in to make sure they play along. :)
I've already got two kids, two carseats, a stroller, a dog in a crate, I don't need any extra presents.

You could take digital pictures of all the goodies. Wrap each picture in a box and let her open the boxes in canada. Have a letter for her from santa explaining the situation and that these gifts are at home but he wanted her to know that he did not for get her.

I think she would buy into it. My parents left notes like that every year for us - we went to PA every year for Christmas. I would still sleep under the Christmas tree waiting for him though.

What if Santa brings some small stuff to Canada and leaves the big stuff at home? I think your kids would buy that santa came to your house. My parents did it one year, we got the Barbie Dream house and it wouldn't fit in the car, so Santa took it to our house! We loved it. It was like Santa came twice!!
