Share your favorite scary movies for Halloween.
On Halloween night (or weekend), after the kids are in bed, I dim the lights, light the candles, pop some corn (or other snack), and watch some old favorite scary movies. I don't really like the teen slasher flicks that are just full of violence, nudity and gore. My real favs are old black & white and "B" movies. Some have monsters, some don't. Here's my favs for Halloween Night:
* Home for the Holidays (stars a young Sally Field being chased around an old house by someone in a yellow raincoat and boots).
* House on Haunted Hill (stars Vincent Price...not the remake).
* The Haunting (stars Russ Tamblyn, Julie Harris & Claire Bloom) The old one...not the re-make. This one is very scary because it's what's heard and not seen.
* Black Sabbath (stars Boris Karloff) very scary.
* I Saw What You Did (teenage girls and little sister having a sleepover in the country get in big trouble when they overhear a murder playing phone pranks).
and...just for a good laugh:
* Abbott & Costello Meet Frankinstein (stars Bud Abbott, Lou Costello and Lon Chaney, Jr. as the Wolfman). This is hilarious.
I also like some of the old Dracula films with Peter Cushing. And of course, it just wouldn't be Halloween without "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown".
Now seriously, why do you need a lot of blood, nudity and violence when some of the scariest films made had none of that.
