I thought I would post is birth story and a pic of him then and now!!!!
ChristopherÂ’s Birth story

Christopher was born on Sunday September 21st, @ 3:14 am. He weighed 8lbs and was 20 1/2 inches long. Here is how it all began.

Saturday September 20th, I had become really concerned about my baby. For about two weeks his movement had really decreased. I kept telling myself that he was just getting bigger and running out of room, knowing though that I had excess fluid I wasnÂ’t really buying what I was telling myself. At my midwife appt, the previous Wednesday, we spoke about induction the next week if my fluid levels continued to rise and if Christopher had not dropped in fear of a cord prolapsed if my water broke. I also explained my concern on his movement. My midwife had told me anytime I was concerned to just go in and get checked, that is what they are their for. And then told me that she wasnÂ’t going to be here that weekend. (I just knew I was going to end up having this kid when she was gone).........

Well it seemed that every time I would think of going to the hospital, Christopher would have the bouts of movement, which would make me feel better. By Saturday I had, had enough. I was pretty worried, I had drank all this apple juice, ate sugary foods, and yet it seemed to still take him the whole hour to make 10 kick counts. I was NOT impressed. My husband Kevin convinced me to go to the hospital. I was afraid that they would just send me home, but he convinced me at least I would know everything was okay and wouldnÂ’t have to worry. So we went. We dropped the kids off at my milÂ’s house. We didnÂ’t even inform any of the family because I thought I would be home in a few hours.

Well we arrive at the hospital at about 6pm or so. I told them that I had only gotten 8 counts (I actually had about 11 or more but didnÂ’t want to tell them that) I knew if I told them the truth they wouldnÂ’t listen to me. The hospital was really packed that day. Infact they had to see me in the emergency part because they had NO beds! Once the started monitoring me and gave me a little soda our little guy started moving again! I thought yep see, I just knew this was what was going to happen. Shortly after though, the nurse came in and said that she didnÂ’t want me to go, that she wanted to contact my midwife because his heart rate would drop every time he moved. So I told her mine was gone and she called her assistant. The nurse asked me if it was okay they admit me and if I wanted to have my baby that day. She said they might have to induce me????? eeeeekkkkk, but because I did feel something was wrong, I told her as much as I donÂ’t want to have to be induced I would.

When Tanya got their, she decided to check me to see just how far I was dilated, because the monitor showed me having contractions (I had been having those for weekÂ’s lol). Well low and behold I was 4 1/2 cmÂ’s. WHOOOO_HOOOOO! I was SO glad because the past few days before I was having some major contractions and thought they better had been doing something other then cause me pain lol. So my midwife told me she wanted to break my water instead of inducing me. She said that she thought it would put me in labor, and if it didnÂ’t then we would talk induction!

GREAT!!!! I was so excited. They checked me in and at midnight I finally had a room. My midwife busted my water, and from there the fun began. Right away the contractions were getting MUCH stronger. ChristopherÂ’s heat rate continued to drop, and a c-section was mentioned. So my midwife tried to sit me up, and they got worse, so then we decided to get me out of the bed. Once I was up his heart stopped going down! So my midwife got out the wonderful birthing ball. This thing was WONDERFUL! My midwife would massage my back as I rocked. It helped SO much. Before I knew it, I was already 8 1/2 cmÂ’s. Then I went ahead and asked for some IV pain meds, I knew I just needed to relax just a little to get me to 10, and not even 15 minutes after giving me the meds, my precious baby was born. Does a girl know her body or what?

Soon after he was born, I hear the nurses whispering saying it broke, now as a mother, you never want to hear OMG it broke! SO I asked if everything was all right and if my baby was okay! My midwife assured me everything was fine, just ChristopherÂ’s cord had broken on his way out. This is VERY rare; it was just falling apart. She said it was wrapped around his neck and body. SO that is why his poor heart rate kept dropping, and why he wasnÂ’t moving, and the times he did he was trying to get unloose. My midwife along with the nurses thanked me for coming in that day, in fear of if my son would of lived had I not of came in. My midwife worried how much longer his cord would of held up, or if one strong movement would of tore it inside. But my baby was okay, he had a little bit of low blood sugar, which they say is normal for early big babies, I was only 38wks, and he was 8lbs! He was so beautiful! And that was it, then we went home two days later, they wanted to observe Christopher because of his cord.

So my word of advice is to always listen to your gut! I have no doubt in my mind, if my husband didnÂ’t convince me to go that day we may not have our son today! DonÂ’t be worried if the doctors will send you home, and if you think something is wrong, keep pushing and make sure that they make sure everything is okay! I knew that day something was really wrong with my son, and I am so glad that I went. I was really relieved to know that my instincts were right! Always listen to them!!!!!
