Well, first Kieran got the cold, then I did, then Sean and NOW it's Ansleigh. Last night you could hear the congestion. What do I do? Kieran never had a cold when he was this young. My pedi usually recommended saline drops for the nose with Kieran. AnsLeigh is so tiny though. I don't know what to do!! She wants to nurse quite often too- is that normal??? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
P.S. what do you think of the capitalization of her name? My mom thinks it will help with the pronunciation of her name. When people see "Ansleigh" they usually say "An- sleigh" when people see "AnsLeigh" they say "Ans- Lee" which is how I want it said. ARGH...

Thats great that she wants to nurse! Go with it!!! If she's nursing, then she is not getting dehydrated! Call your doctor's after hours line. She isn't running a fever is she? My pedi gets very concerned about fevers in babies that little. I would think saline to loosen up the congestion would be fine--but again--check with you pedi. Saline, and then suction with the aspirator. I think the rule is not to use the saline more than about three times per day because it can then have the opposite affect--but ask your pedi about that too. I'm sorry Miss AnsLeigh is sick (I like the capitalization, I think it will make it more obvious how to pronounce it) I got sick when Ethan was three weeks old and I was scared to death that he would get it. It makes you a nervous wreck.

No fever! Thank God!! I'm always checking to see if she has one. I will call the pedi and see what he says. She seems her usual, alert little self except you can hear the congestion. It breaks my heart. Well I guess she's been initiated into the family now.

I hope AnsLeigh feels better soon. I like the capitalization of her name also. Although people will still mispronounce it. My daughter's name is Onye' pronounced (On-yay) People call her on-yee or on-yah.

James got really sick when he was that age. Scary. Fever is the main thing to be concerned w/. The congetsion itself usually isn't that alarming. Keep nursing! The nursing is beneficial to keep her hydrated, for comfort and for the antibodies. Call you Dr., but I think the saline drops are about all you can do. Sorry she is sick:(

let her nurse. i'm sure you have a bulb syringe around - keep her nostrils cleared with that so she can still breathe while she nurses. she'll be fine. stella and nora both got congested at very young ages. good news that she doesn't have a fever. how are you doing? all that nursing is exhausting, isn't it? are you pumping bottles now and then when you need a break?

Have you tried elevating the head of her crib when she sleeps? I used to fold a small blanket and put it under the mattress, helps the sinuses drain.

Warm baths/sitting in a steamy bathroom with the shower running... that'll help thin the secretions, along with saline nose drops. I just dropper it in, rather than spray.
Bulb syring the junk out and nurse as much as she wants. It's got good stuff in there to help fight this.
Hope she feels better soon.

Isabella also got sick when she was really young too. :( Just do what everyone has already said and she will get better soon. The saline drops really helped, and so did the bulb syring! Also nursing helped alot!
Poor baby, I hope she gets better!

This must be going around to babies right now. Jake has the same thing and a bit of a little cough too. He has been this way almost a week but no fever. I keep using the bulb thing everyday and it just keeps giving more snot. His eyes were leaking really bad too but they got better now its just his nose. I have been giving him cold meds just at night to help him sleep but I don't its really helping anything so I am not going to give him anymore. I hope our little ones get better soon.
