I just lost my father about 3 weeks ago to a massive heart attack. I am having a difficult time with this. :( How did those of you that have lost a parent cope with it? He was only 52 and was such an active man so this was very much a surprise. Thoughts and prayers for my family would be greatly appreciated as we try to cope with this loss.

My father was also 52 when he died (that was 11 years ago..just a couple of months before my first child ..his first grandson was born)...It was and still is the hardest thing that I have ever faced. All I can tell you is that your pain will eventually not be so heavy. Cry when you need to. Look at pictures and videos when you want. It is totally normal and healthy to grieve. You will get through this. I am really sorry for your loss. And I will be praying that God helps you find peace with this.

Oh, Angie!

I'm so sorry. I know it hurts. My father died at the same age, same way, and equally unexpectedly. It hurt for a long time. Please just grieve however you need to, for however long, and know that everyone will be understanding. What helped us the most was to share memories together, and not be in a rush to move on.

It's been 3 years and I still cry sometimes :( but it does get much better.

You'll be in my thoughts. :hug

:hug I am soooooo sorry!!!!

I just typed you this long response and hit and button and it was gone~~darn laptop!

I have lost 2 loved ones this year (Stepdad to cancer and baby niece when she was 17 days old~~happened a month ago).

It will be 20 years ago that my dad died of cancer.

It is so hard losing someone you love so much, but try to think of all of the good times and remember there is no right or wrong way for you to be feeling right now. I am just so very sorry!!!

I am also in McKinney, so PM me if you're interested in meeting for a chat....where are you at? Maybe we could meet at Starbucks or something.

I'm very sorry for your loss. My mom was 54 when she passed. It's very difficult when you lose a parent. My mom died 12 years ago, and I still have moments when I'm overcome with the loss...

I know its cliche to say, but it gets easier with time. The grief is still there, but its manageable... Just give yourself plenty of time to spend talking about your feelings/memories/etc.. with people that loved him.

Hugs! Again sorry about your loss.

:yeah My mom passed away when she was 51, 8 1/2 years ago. It is sooooo tough in the beginning - overwhelming. It completely changed my life - I reevaluated where I was in life (24 years old with no real direction), and I was able to make a lot of positive changes, but the hole she left in my heart will always be there, though the pain isn't nearly as acute.

BIG :hug for you - I know how you must feel...

{{{Hug}}} I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to your family.

My mother unexpectedly passed during a routine test at the hospital 2 years ago. For me, there were few tears. It was easier to focus on all the good my mom had brought to the world and to know she would feel no more pain, as she had endured so much in her lifetime.

Find whatever means YOU need to cope with YOUR loss. It will eventually get easier. You never forget them, but you will be able to let go of some of your pain.
