Hi everyone!! I'm back home. Wow! Where do I begin???
Ansleigh Moriah was born Friday, August 27th at 4:15 am at Baylor Dallas.
Friday I was having contractions and during the afternoon I noticed that something was different... Went home (I was at my parents' house) and they were getting a little more frequent. I took a nap and they went away, so I thought I was NOT in labor. I woke up at around 10:00 and they started back up again. They were different but not painful, but noticeable. I timed them and they were about 6 minutes apart but only 30 seconds long. I found my banana bread recipe and baked some because I was bored. I was able to bake the bread, but at around 1:00 am, I suggested to Sean that my parents may need to watch him tonight. I thought we could go walking somewhere that night and get myself into labor (I still that I was NOT in labor). I had to stop what I was doing during some of the contractions, but didn't think much of it. I didn't want it to be a false alarm. I checked my email and checking account balance. I noticed that I got kind of crabby at Sean, but didn't think twice about it. We got to my parents house. They were closer about 4 and a half minutes but 30 seconds long. I still didn't think much, but had to be still during the contractions- no one could talk to me. I finally call my midwife. I talk to her and she said it was up to me whether or not to head to the hospital. The family thinks I should- so off we all go. Kieran stays at home with my dad while my mom and sis head with Sean and I. The drive to the hospital was okay in the beginning- we stopped for red lights, but about halfway through I tell him to keep going. Things were getting intense. We get to the hospital- I brace myself at the door because of a contraction. I go in, sign in. I check in to the hospital at 2:40 am. They ask how far the contractions are and I told them that they were about 4.5 minutes but a little closer since the ride over. I had a couple of contractions going down the hall and the nurse commented that those were closer than 4 minutes. She checks me and I'm at 7 cm!!! I was so in shock. I have to be monitored for 20 minutes before I can labor how I want. Okay fine. My!!! That hurt!!!! The nurses come in to do lab work and draw blood- that was tough. My 20 minutes were finally up and I was OUT of that bed. I leaned on Sean and swayed with him. I felt so much of everything in my back. I couldn't get comfortable. Shanna arrives. Teamwork is GREAT!! There were many times that I nearly collapsed on Sean. It was getting hard to get through the contractions, I moaned alot. I get into the tub and labored there for a little while. It's getting more intense. I feel like I need to push. I get the go ahead, I do. I didn't feel like I could go on- this is the end of the road for me. Well I guess I was close to the end. At this point I'm told I need to get out of the tub, I get out and make it to the bed which is in position for birth. The next contraction comes and I'm pushing. I felt my water break. Wow! That was intense. I keep pushing and I feel her head. I'm in disbelief that it's her head, but it is. The midwife was adjusting the lights at the time and Sean sees this head coming out- afraid he's going to have to catch her. :rolleyes The midwife comes back and comments how the head is out and I'm still pushing and I feel the rest of her come out. That was great and I feel so much better. I hear her cry. She was born at 4:15 am. I had only been at the hospital for about an hour and a half. That was great. Then there's all the wonderful afterbirth stuff. I only needed one stitch. It was incredible. Intense, but incredible. I got the birth I wanted and prayed for. That is the story of Ansleigh's arrival. She weighs 7 lbs 2 oz and is 19.75 inches long. She has a ton of hair. I'll post a picture when I can. I'll be posting all of my other drama- mostly BREASTFEEDING- on the breastfeeding forum. Thanks for making it this far!!!!
