PLEASE do not volunteer without reading through everything and making sure you have the time and desire to commit to the project.
I'd really like to get the playdate locations forum full of every possible location we can think of. So, I need a few volunteers to help me out.
What I need:
One person from each area. If you volunteer, you will be responsible for creating a list of locations in your area. You'll need to go to each location and take a photo of the location so that other moms can see what is available (more than one photo is great, too, but we need at least one "overview" shot that shows the general area). You can handle going to the locations however you'd like- take a week or so and hit one or two a day, playing at each one. Or, spend one day and drive around your city with your camera and take all of your pictures at one time. You are welcome to recruit help, but I can only afford to give away a few subscriptions. Consult whatever resources are available to you- DAM, the city websites, etc. You'll need to gather as comprehensive a list of locations as possible (malls, parks, zoos, museums, pools, lakes, etc.).
You can go to the Playdate Locations forum to see the types of threads you'll need to create. The threads need to include address or intersection, special instructions, amenities, photos, prices when applicable, etc. Anything we'd need to know when planning a playdate there (or any information we'd need when planning activities for our own families).
We are also going to be adding the locations to an interactive map so that members can see what locations are available in certain areas. I will share the link to the map with the volunteers, and then once everything is set up, it will be open for everyone to see.
Once I have a list of volunteers gathered, you'll gain access to a private forum where we can discuss the details further. You won't be on your own with this- I'll be available to answer questions and talk you through the steps of how to set everything up properly so that everything is uniform and fits a standard format.
What you'll get:
This might be a bit time consuming, so I'm willing to compensate you for your time. I can't offer much, but you will receive your next year's subscription to DAM for free. I would simply add on a year to your existing membership. I can't offer this for most volunteer projects, but I really think that having a comprehensive list of playdate locations would be a wonderful resource for us, and I can't do it all on my own.
If you commit to this, I really need you to follow through. This is an important project to me, and I need a team that I can count on to help me complete it.
After the project is complete:
