Did anyone grow up on Penut Butter and Banana Sandwiches? I had never had them until today. Ellie likes pb&j sandwiches and I thought hmm, jelly has a lot of sugar so I put bananas instead and they were great!! I had a couple bites myself. It seems pretty packed with nutrition too when you make the sandwich with whole wheat bread. I can not believe I had never tried them before!

I'm not sure what the restaurant's name was but years ago in the '70's there was a place off of Beltline across the street from Prestonwood mall. They had an outdoor area to eat & they served Peanut butter sandwiches with bananas. I don't know why I remember that but I guess I thought they were the greatest.
I got hooked on them again when I worked for a group of pediatricians. One of the nurses ate one everyday! She said it has great protein & potassium in it. Since she sat most of the day making phone calls she said the potassium was good for her legs & prevented cramping.

no, I had never even heard of them until a couple of years ago. Bannanas do seem better for you than jelly. My father wouldn't, and still won't, eat wheat bread so we had pb&j on white bread. I eat only wheat bread now and love pb&js on that. I'll have to try the bannanas. It does sound yummy but I was taking it one thing at a time with the wheat bread. :-P Did Ellie like the bannanas or was she wondering were the jelly went?

She loved it!! She eats bananas all the time. It is a bit messier thought. With pb&j she eats the sandwich closed but the bananas got her curious. She now takes the sandwich apart and eats each piece separte. Picking the bananas off the pb was very interesting to her.
