Jamie 03-30-2006 Thursday, 12:57 PM This forum is for the Dallas Area Moms 2006 Cookbook Edition. Please read this very carefully before posting.
- The deadline for recipe submissions: June 1st.
- Post your recipe in the apropriate thread category.
- Only 5 recipes per person per categeory.
- It is ok to submit a recipe that has already been submitted, as long as the
ingredients are different.
- Please only submit recipes you have tried or are really wanting to try.
- Please submit to DAMBLC@sbcglobal.net a small Bio about yourself and family along with a
photo of your child(ren) or family you would like to be included. *Only those who submit a
recipe may submit a bio and/or photo*
I do not know if we will include photos yet, but I am hoping to make some sort of collage for the cover with them.
All these recipes are here only temporary and will be removed once the book has been completed.
Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
laurachelle 03-30-2006 Thursday, 01:34 PM I have a question. Actually, this may have been brought up in the original thread, but I didn't read it all. Will the cookbook include pictures? If we want to take a picture of our entre, could it be included with our recipe? I know sometimes when I'm flipping through a cook book, the recipe may not sound so good, but if I see a good picture, I'm more likely to make it.
TeriMomOf4 03-30-2006 Thursday, 01:36 PM psssst...Laura.....read the first post of this thread. ;)
Jamie 03-30-2006 Thursday, 01:38 PM If we add photos, it will make the price go up and I am trying to keep the cost below $10. I agree, I would much rather it have photos, but thenit will cost more. So for now, notphotos of the recipes.
ambhi 03-30-2006 Thursday, 01:39 PM I agree with what Laura is saying, i think it would be a good idea!
ambhi 03-30-2006 Thursday, 01:39 PM oh.. lol okay never mind...
laurachelle 03-30-2006 Thursday, 01:47 PM psssst...Laura.....read the first post of this thread. ;)
I knew I should have, but I was too lazy to search for it. Okay, no photos. I want cheap.
juliema 03-30-2006 Thursday, 08:02 PM quick question.... I know alot of the recipes I love that I have posted in the past are taken from other places. Are we allowed to post recipes we've gotten from other places or just originals that we've created on our own?
Jamie 03-30-2006 Thursday, 08:17 PM Oh heck no. I don't think I have EVER created my very own recipe. LOL I have changed up one a little, but never created my own. You can definitly post a recipe you got from somewhere else as long as it is one youhave tried and liked. I don't think recipes are copywrited (at least most aren't).

The first is an interesting article on this topic, and the second link is the actual copyright law. I was curious, as well.
I think you just need to give credit.
I know some sites (cookinglight.com) expressly prohibit reproducing their recipes, but not most cookbooks. I think you just need to give credit to the source, just like you would when citing references in a paper. Just as a courtesy.
Jamie 04-03-2006 Monday, 08:04 PM Good articles Holly, thanks. As long as no one here posts the Toll House Cookies or such, I think we should be ok. I know none of my recipes came from a book. They were all passed to me from someone. No idea where they originally came from.
HollyGirl 04-03-2006 Monday, 08:12 PM I know...copyright is so boring and usually a downer. I've had a couple of classes on it.
But in this case, it wasn't too bad!
Jamie 04-03-2006 Monday, 08:13 PM I looked it up a little when we did the other book, so I knew we were pretty much safe. But you never know. We just have to be careful.
Jamie 06-05-2006 Monday, 05:03 PM Last call for all recipes!!! I am going to close these come this Friday evening so I can work on it over the weekend.
laurachelle 06-05-2006 Monday, 05:23 PM Crap! I forgot about this. So, I have until Friday?
Jamie 06-07-2006 Wednesday, 05:50 PM Two more days!
marilyn 07-05-2006 Wednesday, 09:08 PM I came across this after doing a search. I thought it was such a neat idea I started submitting recipes. Then I went back and realize the deadline has past. Where does it stand now? Do you want more recipes?
