Preparing for Lent (Christian Spirituality)

For those of you preparing for the Lenten Season:

So, I was up late reading last night and something I read totally resonated with me... kwim? I mean I had to put the book down because it really just hit me hard. I was reading "the Lenten Spring" by Thomas Hopko. Anyhow, here's a quote from it that I thought was awesome for reflection:

"The question asked by the Lord of Adam in his sin is the question that is asked of everyone at the beginning of Lent and throughout the season: Adam, where are you? (Gen. 3:9). Where is your heart? What do you live for? What do you love? For as Jesus, the true and perfect Adam, has said, 'where your treasure is, there your heart will be also' (Mt. 6:21)."

I know it's so simple but it just hit me in a different way this year (I read this book every year). Anyway, I thought I'd share... So, what are those of you observing Lent reading and/or doing for Lent?

I was talking to a friend about this today and neither one of us has decided yet. Growing up, I use to always give something up but I always found myself cheating on that. I'd like to read the daily readings and the meditations on Word Among Us ( http://www.wau.org/). I'd like to do something else too.

Thanks for your post. I will be attending some special sermons and reading at my church and am still thinking about what else I would like to do. As a Catholic, I have always given up something as a way to remember day by day the long 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert. I would like to do something that has some meaning for me.

I will post again - GREAT THREAD! T.
