Hi everyone. We made it home today. Thanks for all the congratulations. Here is Harry's birth story:
On Friday, Feb. 20th I woke up around 3 am with mild contractions about every 3-4 min so we called the doctor and went to the hospital for observation. By the time we got there, the contractions had peetered out. I was still almost 4 cm and about 70% effaced. My OB gave me the option of breaking my water and getting pitocin or going home. Even though I was starting to get a bit frustrated and ready for this baby to be born, I decided to go home and wait it out since I knew that was the safer option.
I had quite a few BH contractions later that day but they were still pretty mild. I went to bed around 10 pm, then woke up just after 1 am Saturday feeling something leak. I went to the bathroom and saw bright red blood--the bloody show. I started having stronger contractions about 5 min. apart after that. Finally, I'm in labor! We had some trouble getting ahold of the dr. on call so we called L&D and they said to go in. The dr. called us on our way to the hospital. We got there around 4:30 am. When the nurse checked me at 4:50, I was 5 cm so she ordered my epidural right away. The epi was in at 5:15--ahhh, so nice. The dr. checked me at 6:18 am and I was 6 cm, 100% and he broke my water. By 6:53, I was complete and started pushing. An hour later, Harrison Joel was born. I did it! I had a VBAC and just a wonderful, quick birth.
I'm still really sore and I tore quite a bit but the pain meds are helping with that. I'll post a couple pictures in the other section.
