Are you debt free?

I'm not talking house payment and car payment just everything else...

We probably won't be debt free for a while.

House payment is it! Dan just bought a new truck, but we already paid for it.:)

I wish! We're up to our eyeballs in student loans :rolleyes

It was just our house payment, but we've since replaced our cars.

So house, and 2 car payments. Yuck!

Thankfully our credit is awesome, and we only use a debit card. :)

We were doing really good until the washing machine died, the truck needed new tires, the whole family got sick, and the lay-off thing happened - all in the course of 6 weeks. Now we're back to feeling moderately overwhelmed. Ick.

No...DH started a new business a few months ago and we had to borrow for that. It's OK though...it will be worth it in the end. We have paid everything off 2x in the past 8 years and it was a great feeling though.

I don't feel bad for the debt though...we only have one car payment, house payment and then the money we owe for the company...those to me aren't "bad" debt.

Did anyone see the SNL skit about reducing your debt? It was an infomercial selling a book called, "Don't buy stuff you can't afford" It was very funny.

:yeah Our debt is almost entirely student loans!! And it is a HUGE amount (medical school:eek).

I hope yours will pay for itself in the end--my silly husband racked up debt to become a teacher:lol

We always have something we are making payments on. But we do have good credit and usually on those things (like washer and camera at the moment) we can get zero financing for a year and pay it in a year.

We are not very disciplined about spending:( - but I am about payments:)

Small ticket items go on Amex and are paid off monthly.

We just paid off the other car and the 2nd mortgage. All we have right now is the first mortgage and the rest of my student loans which we hope to pay off by August.:)

We're slowly getting there. Luckily I don't have much in student loans but did live off a credit card my last year of school. I'm hoping to have paid off everything by next year. It will be a happy, happy day in our house when that happens!!!

we are completely, 100% debt free!! Since housing prices in Mass are ridiculous we were able to sell our house, pay off EVERYTHING and move here and have a house built!!! I still can't believe we have no debt. We struggled for so long that it feels soooooooo darn good!

We're getting there. We just paid off our last credit card, but we still have a car payment and a TV loan that will both be paid off early fall, and then my student loan.

Good news! There is a difference between good debt and bad debt. Student loans are actually good debt. Yeah!

Other than the house and our Suburban, we'll be debt free by this fall. Then we'll work on paying off the Suburban.

DH and I have agreed that my 40th b-day present is going to be no more house payments. I figure that gives us 12 years to meet that goal. :lol

Not any credit card debt. We have 1 car payment and I'm trying to make extra payments every month. We have a home equity loan for adding a gameroom to our house. Since we did most of the work ourselves, it's a really nice room for what we paid. Then our mortgage.

I will have a child in college next year, then another 3 yrs later, and another 3 more yrs. (At least, I hope).

We are Debt free apart from our house payment and 2 car payments. I too use my debit card for everything.

But, it was an investment in your education and in most circumstances the interest is tax deductible.

We are far from being debt free. We have never been able to recover from both being laid off while I was pregnant. Hopefully with dh having taken this new job we will have a better chance. It's just going to take a long time.

We are pretty much debt free. Our credit is crummy after dh's last job...long story. :) Where we were constantly "juggling" everyday needs/payments.

We have one vechicle payment and one house payment.

Our biggest problem right now is getting ahead. Although our income has doubled since August, we always seem to have someone else to spend it on. If we aren't "helping" a co-worker, sister or old friend who are experiencing financial difficulties, we are trying to pay for the birth of a new baby not covered by our crummy insurance. :lol

I don't regret helping others. They have helped us or would if needed. I just look forward to a time in the near future where are savings account is actually for saving.

I answered we are debt free but I guess we aren't in reality. We have 2 car payments, 1 mortgage payment and 1 student loan payment. No credit cards though so in a way we don't have debt, just "living expenses".

We are just starting to make money so it will be a while to we get everything paid off but we are trying.

Its mostly the house that we owe on, and well a couple of credit cards (not maxed or anything)... We are using cash only for ALL of our purchases so it is helping budgeting things so we can pay off the cards!

We have one car payment and apt. rent that we're paying... no house yet unfortunately - so no mortgage... I also have a huge student loan but it's in deferment still. We haven't had ANY credit cards for YEARS, but our credit is bad because of post-high-school credit card madness! lol (WHEN does that leave your record anyway - that was like 12 yrs. ago & it's STILL there!? LOL) Well, that was another long answer to a short question! lol

We have the mortgage, 1 car payment, 2 credit cards, and a mortgage loan that dh got in his previous marriage. One of the credit cards will be paid off with our tax money this year. The other will take a while to get paid off because a bunch of dh's stuff from his previous marriage is on it, plus some things that we have put on it. We really would like to get it paid off sometime next year and buy some land.

Still have debt but hope to have most of it paid off by the end of the year, possibly middle of next year. We keep chopping at it and will get there one day! My van will be paid off this year (YEAH!!) **House payment not included :0)

We are way in debt. More then imaginable. It feels like we will be forever. I no longer answer the ohone as it is only bill collectors! That is why we are miving to Baton Rouge. Away from Caroline and Elizabeth but hopefully they will be able to follow us out here soon enough. Alot of it is past bills from thr girls formula, lawyers, etc, etc........

We have our house and both rental properties (but the renters are paying those mortgages). My SUV is paid off and Shaun is going to pay off the other car in a month or two. And I need to send my mom a check to pay off my last student loan in Canada.

We're getting there. We've paid off our second mortgage and both my school loans. Since we just bought a new car, we have a payment for that, but we will pay it off in June with dh's bonus so that won't last long. After that all we have left is Scott's school loans which are lots and lots. We're paying more than the minimum but I still expect it to take us another 5 years or so to pay it off.

We have our house payment, truck payment and one credit card(mine from college) that will be paid off next month. Yea!!

we have some, but we are young and still in school, and dh is even still trying to get credit (he recently got his first credit card that has a tiny tiny balance lol). BUT my car will be paid off in august/september!!

Same here...except we moved from CA. We paid off our student loans, bought our house and bought a car with the sell of our house in CA.
