On a Mission trip if you had the oppurtunity and the drive to go?

I am really praying and thinking of going on a trip with my church!

Dorothy, if you have the opportunity and the drive... I would say Go for it! What a rewarding adventure for you. Something that you will probably never forget.

Think about what you would feel if you did not go.

Where is it to? How long? When?

Dorothy, my aunt is with a group of women who go to Mexico and various other places doing a clown ministry. They have their costumes and they witness and minister to children. She went on her first trip a couple of years ago and she wouldn't trade the joy she gets from each trip ever. She loves it! Matter of fact, she took my mom(fighting colon cancer) to Houston this past weekend to clown school and my mom can't wait until she gets past this battle with cancer so she can also go on a trip.

My grandparents had the opportunity a few years ago to go on a mission trip to Panama. They have since been back 2 more times. My grandparents were 62 & 72 years old when they went on their frist trip there. They felt so blessed after they went. My grandfather has also gone on a trip to Brazil.

I have another cousin who he and his wife and their 4 kids lived in China doing mission work for years. They have only recently moved back to the states.

I also have a friend from Oklahoma that is in Japan with her 2 daughters and husband. They packed up and went to Japan to start a school 3 years ago! They aren't ready to come home yet!

I think that mission work is just amazing! I believe if you feel God calling you to go, then you have to go! If you believe it in your heart! But if you feel like you are wanting or needing to do some sort of mission work, there is a lot of mission work that can be done right here in the US! So if going away on a trip doesn't work, then you can always get involved with work here in the states! I will definitely be praying for you and I will pass your name along to my family and I know they will be praying for you that you make the right decision...the decision that God wants you to make!

Hmmm...well it would depend on how long it would be and who would be with my kids during that time. I've contemplated doing things like this, but they are usually such a lengthy committment that I'm not comfortable being gone that long.

It is just for 3 days to Mexico and my kids would be with DH! So they will be in good hands! I guess I am just struggling if this is REALLY what I am suppossed to be doing but then I think I am just making excuses for not going ya know??? And it isn't until April so I have time to really pray through it!

Dorothy, ask yourself these 2 questions:

1) What would it look like if it wasn't REALLY what you are supposed to be doing and you went anyway?

2) What would it look like if it WASREALLY what you are supposed to do and you don't go?

To me, it sounds like going is a win/win situation.

That doesn't sound unreasonable at all. If it were just three days and I knew my dh would be okay with the kiddos then yes I would go! What a wonderful opportunity!
