Nicole 02-05-2006 Sunday, 10:07 PM Shannon, it's pretty simple. I figured it out using PS's Help section. I think I searched for animated gif or animation. If you don't figure it out using the Help section, I can type up some instructions tomorrow. I'm off to bed for the night. :) ChickieShannon 02-05-2006 Sunday, 10:09 PM Shannon, it's pretty simple. ChickieShannon 02-05-2006 Sunday, 10:32 PM Okay, I'm going through the Help section and I still don't get it. Can anyone give me *Animated Avatars for Dummies* instructions? :) Jackie 02-05-2006 Sunday, 10:45 PM shannon, i use image ready and set up all the different layers i need for everything i want. like for instance, if you want like 4 pics to rotate, i have pic one as layer 1, pic 2 and layer 2, etc. Then on the bottom it gives you a line with your "frames". I dup the frames until i have as many frames as i need (in this example, 4) then on frame one, I select to only view layer 1, on frame i only make layer 2 visible, frame 3 i only make layer 3 visible, and so on. Hope that's not too confusing ETA: oh, and you have to "save optimized images as" laurachelle 02-05-2006 Sunday, 11:10 PM Shannon, here's how I do it. Remember, animated gifs are just different layers that rotate frame by frame. So whatever layer you have will show up as it's own frame, unless it's merged with another. I use Image Ready to do my gifs. I suggest you start out in reg. PS though. Get your layers ready, re-sized and in the order you want them to rotate, then follow these steps. If you do not have the animation window already open, go to the top and check it under the 'window' menu to open. Then click on the arrow in the right corner of that box, and select "Make frames from layers". You should now see all your different layers appear side by side. In that box, you'll see where it says 0 sec., below each layer. Click on that to select how long you want the delay between the next frame. You'll do this for each layer, or click on that arrow again in the right corner, and hit select all frames, if you want them all to have the same delay time. This will save some time. Next you'll see where it says "forever", below that. This is where you decide if you want the gif to rotate through the frames only once, or if you want it to repeat itself over and over. You'll want to select forever. Now hit the play arrow below those images to preview your gif. Once you're done with that, go to file- save for web. In this window you can further edit your gif if you want. However, I've never really messed with it, and just hit save. Now, hopefully I didn't confuse the heck out of you. ETA: This is instructions for a simple animated gif. Now if you want images that fade in and out, and all that jazz, it gets a little more complicated. ChickieShannon 02-05-2006 Sunday, 11:14 PM Thanks, Laura and Jackie! I'm trying it out right now. :) ChickieShannon 02-06-2006 Monday, 01:05 AM WOOHOO!!! :banana I got it! :bounce Chera25 02-06-2006 Monday, 01:54 AM Thanks Nicole! & Thanks Laura & Jackie for the instructions! :D Nicole 02-06-2006 Monday, 07:32 AM Hey Laura, do you know to do the fading in and out? I've never messed with that, but I'd like to try it. :) Christine 02-06-2006 Monday, 07:38 AM This will be fun!!! Cyndie 02-06-2006 Monday, 03:43 PM I only have 2006 Microsoft Image Suite Plus ... can I do this?? I would like to be able to have a few rotating pictures, not anything "animated". laurachelle 02-06-2006 Monday, 07:18 PM Hey Laura, do you know to do the fading in and out? I've never messed with that, but I'd like to try it. :) I haven't really tried this since we got CS2. But with elements, I would basically duplicate the image several times, then change the opacity for each layer so it had a fade in and fade out effect. I'm assuming it works the same way in CS2, or Image ready, but it may be a lot faster. I'll have to give it a try when I get home. I'm at my parents right now. Kristy 02-06-2006 Monday, 08:50 PM I only have 2006 Microsoft Image Suite Plus ... can I do this?? I would like to be able to have a few rotating pictures, not anything "animated". That's what I have too. I was able to create rotating pictures (Tools; Flipbook), but when I save it, it doesn't work. :scratch Cyndie 02-06-2006 Monday, 09:39 PM That's what I have too.
