Mommy Weekday Church Services

My Parish Priest announced today that starting next Thursday, we're going to have a special Liturgy (service like Sunday w/ communion served and everything) every Thursday mornings w/ a playdate afterwards for Mommies of young children. We tried this out last Thursday and it was so great :thumb. I was totally able to pay attention without really worrying about Marie making too much noise as all of us were mommies with kids under 3. It was kinda like a crybaby matinee for church :). I know many of you had expressed concern with taking young children to church. Anyhow... I would bet that we're not the only ones who think this idea is great. So, I thought I'd let you know in case you want to bring it up to your church pastor as an idea or something. The kids will continue to remain with us on Sundays as usual. It isn't intended as a replacement for Sunday or anything like that, just a way for moms who desire to participate more (and feel they don't get to as much on Sunday).

That is a really cool idea! I would LOVE to go to church but like you said, I don't think Chloe would do well and she is not the type of kid who just lets me take her to the nursery without a fight! I am going to try to find out if any of the churches near me do this!

I haven't ever heard of churches doing this. That's why I posted though I guess. I would call your local church though and ask the pastor/priest if they would be willing to consider it. You just never know. That's how we ended up having it. I was actually talking to another mom at coffee-hour and our Priest overheard us and presto! Anyhow, I can't imagine there not being churches near everyone that need a new way to reach-out to their people. I bet they would be willing to consider it! Good luck y'all!!
