Mara 02-01-2004 Sunday, 02:12 PM What high chair do you all use? And what do you like about it?
We didn't end up getting one at our baby shower and now we are looking into which one we should purchase!
Thanks in advance!
Mara
Chandra 02-01-2004 Sunday, 02:24 PM I got a Graco one that has a 5 position height adjustment and the 3 position recline. I liked the recline especially when Angelica was younger and it was easy to do and only required 1 hand. The one handed tray removal is important. The height adjustment can be cumbersome because you need both hands. The chair gets low enough that she can use it as a seat at the table. Though lately it's become more of a babydoll holder ;)

thats the addy to the one we have. its really nice and its very easy to clean up. Didnt have it when jake was a baby but since hes been older we have had no problems wtih it
Julia 02-01-2004 Sunday, 02:40 PM I had the Graco five position or something like that. I hated it. food got into every little crease and hole. After four years of use it is in my kitchen with alot of duck tape holding it together for a few more months - then it's outta here.
I think Christine's chair thing looks really cool and useful and it grows into a booster. It attaches to the kitchen chair (which is good if you don't have upolstered chairs - could get messy with upolstery). Since Mara is about Laurens size keep in mind Lauren outgrew the high chair before she was really ready for a toddler booster, so I wish there was something out there like Christines chair back then.
I'll find a pic of it for you and post it.
Julia 02-01-2004 Sunday, 02:42 PM Here you go. I bet you can find it cheaper somewhere, but heres a photo.

It doesn't recline etc. but she only uses it to eat so..... They do have the one That Julia is talking about at Target (I think it is just like that or at least similar) for 15.00 I saw it today!!

Shannon 02-01-2004 Sunday, 04:44 PM We have the Peg Perego Prima Pappa High Chair:

I love it, especially the double tray and the 5 point harness. I will be honest though, I don't know if I would have spent this much on it if I had bought it. It was a gift from one of my student's moms and she picked it out.
hannah 02-01-2004 Sunday, 05:33 PM We got the Baby Trend and we LOVE it. It got high marks on various sites and was ALOT less expensive than some others. WE have the one that is a sage green, the reversible cloth cover has bears on one side and the otehr side is a sage green check, fits in well with our green kitchen table. The seat is washed about twice a month ands till looks good. I roll the thing around the house sometimes, it's sturdy and super comfy.
I totally love it and it retails at BRU ( House Of EVil) for under $90.
Good luck with your decision!

It was a gift from my aunt, and it's wonderful, albeit expensive.
I love the height ajustment (for when we eat at the coffee table), and the recline - which Julian likes to do after his meal while we talk. One hand tray removal is very nice. And it's easy to clean. It folds up flat, but we've never used that feature (although it will come in handy when storing between babys - although we plan on having all our kids close together, so who know's if it'll actually ever get stored! LOL!)
Then again, the nice, simple wooden ones are great too, and probably what I would buy if it was me doing the purchasing.
HSquared 05-02-2004 Sunday, 02:22 PM We've got the Chicco Mama and it is still looking brand new after years of use. With my second baby, I called their customer service number and got a new tray, new belts, and a new chair pad. I have really enjoyed using it. It was worth every penny IMO.
Sarah_W 05-14-2004 Friday, 12:12 PM We have a Fisher Price one that does recline and can be raised and lowered. It also has a tray that has a liner that can be put in the dishwasher. The Seat cover is vinyl covered and washes well. Just throw it in the machine like once or twice a month after dinner.. and air dry over night...and your as good as new. We liked ours so much that we bought a second one for Nick...it's like 75.00 at BRU. and they have a new and improved version that comes with like three tray inserts for all three meals..but it's a lil more $$ =)
bidetkitty 05-14-2004 Friday, 09:39 PM we have an old wooden jenny lind-style highchair - works fine. kids mess it up, i clean it up, no problems. my mother-in-law thought we needed something fancier and plastic, so we now also have a graco reclining chair with some sort of extra tray for the food. i like to be able to move the chair to different parts of the house, and it's much more difficult to move the graco. the base is so wide. the extra tray falls out all the time, and now stella has actually figured out how to kick it off herself. my brother-in-law and his wife have some sort of peg pereggo fetish lol - they have 3 highchairs, all beautiful, all waaaay more than i'd spend on a piece of plastic. i think we got our jenny lind at a garage sale for $10, and it's on my 3rd kid. i also like the idea of starting with a booster with a removeable tray. less stuff around, and you can still move it around the house if you need to.

Billie 05-14-2004 Friday, 10:12 PM We just use a booster with removeable tray. With Ela we had a high chair, and then with the next 2 we realized that we didn't really need it. It took up way too much space and it did the same job that the booster did. For our upolstery, we simply put a peice of plastic under the booster and everything stays clean. I also like the ability to take the booster with us when we need it. We often take it to church for fellowship meals and on trips in case there is no high chair where we are going. It is so verasatile and we love it.
