I have used Provera a few times in the past to bring on AF after 40ish day or longer cycles at my OBs recommendation. I had neg PG test on Thurs (blood), so I know that I am not pg. For some reason, I wondering if I should wait AF out a little longer or just take the darn Provera.
I have not done any research on Provera, but is it okay to take kind of often. I have not had to take it while using Clomid the past few cycles, but I *know* that I will need it this time to start.
I am rambling, but anyone used Provera a bunch (3 or more times in a year)? Any adverse effects?

My mom had to get provera shots for several years (OK, this was over 40 years ago because it was before I was born). She had what was then called Stein Levanthal and is now called Polycystic Ovarian Disease. Is that what you have? The "big fix" for her was surgery....the way that she tells it is that they "cut off half of her ovary" and then my dad always says, "and she got pregnant in the hospital" and my mom says, "BILL!" :lol
Sorry....I got off topic. :)

lol! That's funny Teri.
I have PCOS also (but didn't have that surgery). I have to induce AF every 4 months with medroprogesterone (provera) because I don't ovulate and my hormones are messed up. I'll always have this. :P
You can either wait no longer than 4 months or take it now. I don't see why not.

If you have any uneasy feeling, then wait a few more days. If you are ok...then do it. Obviously it's not harmful, but if you want to give you body a few more days on it's own...then do it! Just do what feels right for you!

Cara, I have always had irregular (LONG) cycles. I have taken Provera a couple of times - it has been many years - and I just remember extreme moodiness from it. But I never took it regularly.
But I did want to add that I got out my 2002 calendar this morning and looked up when Leo was conceived. It was about day 38 of my cycle. I say if you want to let your body do its thing, do it. If I had taken Provera in the 40s, I would have probably never known I was pregnant.
I am certainly not an OB and not an expert. Just my story/experience.

I used Provera twice when I was trying to conceive Casey. My cycles would be like 60 days long, or even AF would last for like 2 weeks! It was a nightmare. I took the pill form of the Provera to get my period started-it took two cycles to get it regulated-and then the Clomid so I'd ovulate.
Good luck!
