Sewing For Babies

Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know all about a group called Newborns In Need. We serve Parkland Hospital by providing baby items for the newborns & premies born there each month. Parkland delivers over 16,000 babies a year, more than any other hospital in the country. The sad thing is that over 85% of these babies are born into families in poverty. Our goal is to see that every baby leaving there has a shirt, hat, socks and a blanket.

We have people make hats, shirts, receiving blankets, quilts, afgans, booties and more. Everything is volunteer based and we deliver each month. Due to the number of babies born each month, we are barely providing items for less than half of the babies. We are always looking for new volunteers who want to help cloth these little angels.

If anyone knows how to sew, has a serger, know how to knit or crochet, and you want to learn more about how you can help our tiny little babies at Parkland, please email me at nin_northdallas@yahoo.com

Thanks for letting me share.

Yes, there is a lot that you can do for the babies. We have lots of crochet and knit patterns for afghans, hats, & booties.

Our next work meeting is this Saturday, Feb. 7th at the Marcus Recreation Center at Webb Chapel & Northhaven Road in Dallas. You can come to that to get an idea of all we do. You can pick up patterns, meet some of the wonderful volunteers and help with cutting fabric, tearing flannel and more.

We also have an alternate meeting location on the last Saturday of the month at the Timberglen Recreation Center in North Dallas at Midway Road & Timberglen road. It is just another day and location that you can come by and drop items off or help work.

If you have any other questions, or to have your email put on our contact list, send an email to nin_northdallas@yahoo.com
