Nicole 01-05-2006 Thursday, 04:31 PM The journal section isn't really being used much, so I'd like to change the focus of it. Since we all chat here on the boards about our daily lives, I'd like to turn the journal section into an area where members can discuss very specific subjects. For example, we'll have ttc journals, pregnancy journals, parenting journals (more specific, various types, i.e. special needs, etc.), etc. In the coming week or so, I'll be deleting the journals, so please save anything you'd like to save.
If you are interested in participating under one of the above headings (or one you think would be of interested that is not listed), please contact me by pm. :)
Cori 01-05-2006 Thursday, 04:45 PM I'd love to chronicle my jouney as a midwife and share my experiences with you all, but I can't due to HIPPA regulations. :nono It's pretty restricitve what I can and can't share.... so no journaling online for me.
RyliesMomma 01-05-2006 Thursday, 04:49 PM Sounds good!
HollyGirl 01-05-2006 Thursday, 04:52 PM Other topics off the top of my head:
starting a home business
losing weight
moms going to school
going back to work after being at home
I really like this idea. They will be fun to read.
ETA - oh, i'm so sorry. I see that it says to put ideas by PM. I'm so sorry. Delete these if you need to. Still think it's a fabulous idea.
texasamy 01-05-2006 Thursday, 05:12 PM I'd love to chronicle my jouney as a midwife and share my experiences with you all, but I can't due to HIPPA regulations. :nono It's pretty restricitve what I can and can't share.... so no journaling online for me. Could you change names?? I know my Mom shares info about her clients sometimes, but gives no names or descriptive info.
Nicole 01-05-2006 Thursday, 05:29 PM Holly, ideas are fine here. :) I just meant contact me through pm if you want to write a journal. Although, it's fine to contact me here, too.
Cori 01-05-2006 Thursday, 05:51 PM Amy, yeah, I can (and do) change or leave out names... but still there is so much that's considered confidential anyways, by the time I'm done editing out everything I should... seems kinda bland. I can tell anonymous birth stories with no identifying details (which is really hard, let me tell you!), however, journaling them is another story.
I can say, "I just got back from a homebirth early this morning," but that is considered identifying info, as it gives the date and rough time of birth. So then, since there is identifying info, I can't go into the details of the birth story.
I can say, "I had a birth once-upon-a-non-identifying time where the mom labored out in the backyard under the stars, and came inside moments before the head crowned to birth her baby in the same bed she had been born in."
It's a subtle difference that could cost me lots of fines, as well as the ethical considerations. Now, when I have written permission from the parents to share their story, it's fair game.
Dorothy 01-05-2006 Thursday, 06:08 PM I would be willing to journal! I am pretty boring though.......
jessjillbolyer 01-06-2006 Friday, 08:05 AM I wouldn't mind sharing my weight loss journal that I am doing right now.
angie 01-06-2006 Friday, 10:57 AM I wouldn't mind journaling :)
twoplusone 01-16-2006 Monday, 10:42 PM Oh bummer somehow I did not see this and never got to save mine. Oh well! No biggie! I look forward to following along the new ones!
Nicole 01-17-2006 Tuesday, 06:59 AM Oh no, I'm sorry, Danielle. I waited almost two weeks, but I should have bumped up this thread to make sure everyone had seen it. :(
twoplusone 01-17-2006 Tuesday, 07:34 AM Don't worry Nicole. It is no big deal. That is what I get for not reading everything. I come and go from the computer too often and end up missing stuff. Really not a big deal!
