Prayer request for my 2y/o nephew

My 2 y/o nephew was bitten by a brown recluse spider a few days ago. After he had a severe reaction to the bite, he was admitted to the hospital where Dr.'s confirmed what type of bite it was. He's been at Medical City of Dallas ever since.

His leg has suffered cell & possibly nerve damage. The tissue has died around the site of the bite and is continuing to die as it spreads up his leg, despite their efforts to treat. So, tomorrow he'll be put under and they'll surgically remove the dead tissue and have a look at the nerves.

He's also suffering from fever & nausea. I'll post an update when I know more. Prayers are much appreciated.

Oh my goodness! How scary. I've heard horror stories of those spiders. Poor little guy. I will say many, many prayers for him and his family! :hug

He had surgery today and it went good. They removed the dead tissue and cleansed the area real good. The Dr. drew a circle around the area that he cleaned up. If the infection spreads past that circle then he'll have another surgery.

If no more surgery is needed then he may be able to come home on Sunday.

Any news yet Raina? I am so sorry your family is going through this. We are praying for him and the entire family as they deal with this.

Update: Brian came home today! :)

They will be watching the wound closely, but for now it looks like there will be no need for another surgery. Great news!
