From my grandmother, Mildred Dawson. This is the best brisket in the world, IMO.
Marinated Brisket
Make a paste of:
2 Tbsp. of liquid smoke (I like Colgin)
1 tsp of celery salt
1 tsp of onion salt
1 tsp of garlic salt
(I double all of this if it's a BIG brisket.)
Rub into meat the night before. Wrap and seal tightly in foil. Let this marinate in the fridge overnight.
Next morning, open and sprinkle 3 Tbsp. of Worcestershire Sauce and 1/2 tsp or so of cracked black pepper.
Reseal. Bake at 250 for 5 hours.
Let me know if you like it if you try it!!

This seems like a good thing for me to take to my family's house for Christmas afternoon. How do you serve it? I don't think I've ever had it without BBQ sauce. Is that how you serve it or is it tastey by itself??
Thanks!!

It's plenty tasty by itself. Definitely doesn't need BBQ sauce as long as you cook it slowly and take it out at 5 hrs - it should be plenty moist.
If I were planning a whole meal with it, I'd make some rice or mashed potatoes for the au jus side. My grandmother always served it with this:
Peas and Asparagus
1 can tiny green peas
1 can cut asparagus, drained
1 stick butter
1 can cream of mushroom soup
4 oz Velveeta
Put peas and asparagus in saucepan and bring to a boil. Add butter and simmer til butter melts. Add cheese and melt. Add soup. Mix and heat on low til mixture is heated through. It's best if it doesn't boil. Reheat leftovers in oven. Serves 6-8
Brisket, Rice, Peas & Asparagus, Rolls, Salad, and Iced Tea. A million Sunday lunches after church when I was a little girl. Sweet memories this morning.

I buy Brisket. Either the trimmed one for a small group or a huge one for a large group.
