jakesmommie 01-03-2004 Saturday, 05:14 PM ok, now that im pregnant i need to find a doctor. I know for a fact im NOT going to deliver in the Greenville hospital lol so what hospitals around here are the best? I want to deliver in the best hospital in the DFW area and I dont mind driving a ways to get a good one and a good dr. With that said, I need a dr around the hospital area. Thanks for your help everyone! since im new i dont know very much
juliema 01-03-2004 Saturday, 05:27 PM Well, I haven't had my baby yet, so I can't comment on the hospital (Baylor of Grapevine) but I can say that I absolutely LOVE my doctor. His name is doctor New and he's fantastic. If you want to know more, I'd be happy to give you info. Congrats on your pregnancy! :)
Julie
S&co. 01-03-2004 Saturday, 06:34 PM Congrats, Britney! Do you know when you're due? I wonder if we're due around the same time...
I've been seeing Dr. Paul Payne, who delivers at Baylor Downtown, and really like his bedside manner and demeanor. Julia also can't rave enough about him, so you have 2 recommendations at least, from this board alone. I have to admit, though, that I haven't seen him yet as a pregnant patient--he's seen me for my annual visit.
You can pm me for his info if you'd like.
hannah 01-03-2004 Saturday, 06:57 PM I had the greatest, most wonderous time at Plano Presby!
All the rooms are private, and decorated very prettily; and I loved my entire stay there. Every nurse was more loving and compassionate than the one before her, and I could go on and on.
My OB was recommended by numerous new moms, her name is Dr. Jaffee and she's on Parker and Tollway, a block from Plano Presby.
She in turn recommended my to the most wonderous pediatrician we could ask for, Lily Han who answers little questions via email!!!
If you have any other questions about any of these amazing people, drop me a pm!
Good luck!
jakesmommie 01-03-2004 Saturday, 07:04 PM Thanks you guys!! My due date is 9/13 so yeah we are due within a few weeks of eachother. I think probably plano or dallas presby would work for me since its a good distance. But thanks to those who refered others.
TeriMomof4 01-03-2004 Saturday, 07:20 PM I delivered one of mine at Baylor and one at Dallas Presby. I MUCH preferred Presby over Baylor.
My doctor was Ann Lutich (she is right inside of the womens hosp at presby dallas). She is in an all women practice. I didn't use to really care about whether my doc was a man or a woman (the other 3 were delivered by men), but I have to say that she was much more sensitive and empathetic to my concerns and wants. Her call group is also all women...the only one in Dallas.
She is also the only one that sent me out for a level 2 sonogram by a perinatologist instead of just doing the 20 week one at the office.
Any Dallas hospital is going to be quite a drive for you though!
jakesmommie 01-03-2004 Saturday, 07:23 PM thanks. im a little hesitent on wether or not I want a women or a man. I had a man with Jake and he was great. Ive heard a lot of people say they didnt like women because they were too rough but i guess i can try one. Yeah i know anything will be a drive but im having a schedule c sec. so i will know when I am going to deliver (hopefully) and appts wont be too bad since im out that way a lot anyways. so it doesnt bother me too much! Thanks for the names.
TeriMomof4 01-03-2004 Saturday, 07:35 PM Dr. Lutich was definitely not rough! Much better than any of the men! One of the male doctors that I had was so insensitive that when I brought my husband to the appts with me, he would address him and not ME! He also tended to blow off everything that I asked about (it's because your pregnant, its because you are too old...I was 34)
Good luck!
mistas 01-04-2004 Sunday, 07:37 AM I used Dr Cowart in Garland. I could not ask for a better Dr he is the best I have ever seen. He has so much compassion for his patients and talks you through your whole pregnancy. He really understood what all I was going thru with all the problems i was having with the pregnancy. He delivers at Baylor of Garland. If i could get pregnant again I would use him...
Missatx 01-04-2004 Sunday, 08:19 AM My doctor with Caitlyn was Dr. Johnathan Bertrand with Walnut Hill OBGYN & Associates. He was the best doctor and he was recently voted one of the best doctors in Dallas in "D" Magazine. There practice is the best. You can check out his website at www.walnuthillobgyn.com. He practices out of Presby Dallas.
Dr. Camille Clark was really good as well. She is out of Medical City Dallas but my first choice is Dr. Bertrand. He has like 7 kids and is the best doctor. I started to use him for Sydney but my insurance changed and I had to change doctors since he wasn't on my new insurance.
jakesmommie 01-04-2004 Sunday, 02:44 PM Thanks nicole, that is very important to me as well. I love to have the baby with me and I would of never of thought that hospitals wouldnt alow that. I think im gonna go with dallas presby...it just seems like a great hospital all around. And I think im going to go to someone in that practice. Thanks you guys for all your help!!!
Cara 01-20-2004 Tuesday, 10:27 PM I am a new member here and I am "new" to Dallas. I do not have an OB-GYN and I need to find one soon. I have gotten a few recommendations and I would like your opinions.

Dr Fogwell is my OB/GYN, I am fairly new to Texas so I have only seen him once but ..... I really liked him and I did do research. He is one of the best in the country in Laser surgery ... I needed that .
"He was chosen one of the "Best Doctors in America" in a survey of area physicians by the South Carolina-based Woodward/White Inc., a national research company."
That quote was taken from this website
Dr Ted Fogwell (http://www.dallas.net/~fogwell/dr__ted_fogwell.htm)
He also has a very good bedside manner .. he has a daughter that teaches here in Allen.
I am very very picky and really wished I could have brought my Dr from Florida when we moved but we all know how that goes.
Good Luck!
Cara 01-21-2004 Wednesday, 08:20 AM Christine-Thank you so much for your response. I am planning on calling him today to make my yearly appt and I am crossing my fingers that I will need to see him earlier due to pregnancy! I have heard a lot of good things about him, but I have never been to a male OB-GYN before and I am a little nervous about it.
Thanks for all the info.
Chandra 01-21-2004 Wednesday, 08:40 AM I'm new to Texas so I haven't yet seen an OB/GYN. I'm not currently pregnant and my next yearly isn't due until May...
I did find a hospital rating site... Health Grades (http://www.healthgrades.com)
It will pull up the rating of the hospitals in the Dallas area or surrounding area. Dallas Presby is rated with 5 stars in its Obsterics Department. If I need an OB, I'll be going here.
BTW if the ratings mean anything, I'd rather drive to Greenville (3 stars) to have a baby than have it at Lake Point (1 star) in Rowlett.
Cara 01-22-2004 Thursday, 09:18 AM Help!!!
Dr. Fogwell is not taking any new patients with my insurance company, PHCS PPO, but his partner Dr. Dullye "might" be. Her office is closed today, so I have to wait till tomorrow to find out. I am so upset...I have heard so many incredible recommendations about Dr. Fogwell and I really wanted to use him as my OB-GYN.
Any other recommendations for MDs out there who deliver at Presby Dallas?
TIA
Mara 01-22-2004 Thursday, 09:28 AM I had Zoë at Lakepointe, and only had a couple problems with the nursing staff that I could have solved myself if I had been more confident in what I wanted. All of them centering around the nursery and her being given bottles there.
I had a c-section. I LOVED my anesthesiologist! He had the PRETTIEST blue eyes. Hehe.. he also wore a button that said "Boys Rule" so my husband wasn't jealous! Hehehe
Of course if something had gone seriously wrong with me or muffin they don't have an nicu so they would have had to transfer me somewhere else.
They are building a whole new area for things, I think (not sure) that they are adding a level 2 nicu?
Not sure where I will have the next one yet. :)

meredith 01-22-2004 Thursday, 02:49 PM My OBGYN is Dr. Hahn Le. She has an independent practice and is amazing. I wish she was a GP also! She delivers at Medical City Dallas which is a wonderful hospital. It had a 5 on the rank list someone posted. We have your insurance also and Dr. Le is on it. I have been going to her for four years now after a referral to her from the ER.
She has correctly diagnosed my problems on the first visit and she even does her own surgeries. My DH thinks she is awesome and raved to the family about how great she was during my laproscopy for endometriosis. Bill actually went to all of the pregnancy appointments and if he was late, she would redo the ultrasound or heartbeat so he could hear or videotape. Her office staff is great also. The nurse plays with Ashton during my visits so I do not have to find a sitter.
She takes same day appointments and has wonderful hours. She is open from 10-6 Mon-Thurs and Sat from 8-12. PM me if you would like her number or address.
texasamy 02-07-2004 Saturday, 09:06 AM I think Dr. Audrey Graham is the BEST. She is very pro natural childbirth, which was so important to me. She is very compassionate and really helps you get the best care possible if you're in a high risk situation(we had planned to use Swiss Avenue Britha nd Women's Center). She was a wonderful support during labor. She actually sat w/ me and fed me ice chips:)
Missatx 02-07-2004 Saturday, 09:16 AM I can highly recommend Dr. Bertrand with Walnut Hill OBGYN. He delivers at Presby Dallas and he is great. He has like 7 kids of his own as well. He has a great bed side manner and is the sweetest guy. The other doctors in his staff are also wonderful. Dr. Bertrand was also in D Magazine as one of the top 500 doctors in Dallas selected by his patients. You can check out there website at www.walnuthillobgyn.com
Missatx 02-07-2004 Saturday, 09:19 AM Sorry didn't realize I had already posted. Duh.
max_smom 02-07-2004 Saturday, 11:15 AM My doctor is Tracy Hays and she delivers at Baylor Downtown. I love her, she is the best! I have been seeing her since I moved to Dallas in 2000. I had the most wonderful experience with Max's delivery at Baylor. I also had him in the room with me the whole time. Dr. Hays' office is on Live Oak and Washington. The address is 1311 Washington Ave. Dallas 75204. (214) 824-2567.
Cara 02-07-2004 Saturday, 05:29 PM Well, I went ahead and made an appointment with Dr. Tara Dullye. She is partners with Dr. Ted Fogwell and they both practice at Presby Dallas. I will not be seeing her until May for my annual unless I get pg before then.
Amber 02-07-2004 Saturday, 05:37 PM I second that, Melissa! My doctor is Dr. Janed Nokleberg with Walnut Hill Ob/gyn. BTW... their office is right across the street from the Presby Dallas Hospital. Hope you find a doctor you like, good hunting!
Amber 02-07-2004 Saturday, 05:37 PM Oops! That's Jane Nokleberg.
KendaM 11-20-2006 Monday, 04:22 PM I've been going to a Dr. in N Dallas and I'm very disappointed with her. My sister in law recomended one in Los Collinas but she isn't taking new patients. I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I live in Arlington and work by 635 and midway. Something between the two locations would be nice....but, a really great Dr. is priceless. Thanks ladys!
