She did it!! Ellie pulled herself up from the floor to a standing position by herself. Poor girls is going to be so sore tommorrow from all that excercise all day. She has been trying for about a week now and today, several times was successful. I was so proud to watch her. A little scared she'd fall and hit her head, but very proud.

Hooray, Ellie!!! But look out, Rachel! It won't be very long now until she's walking. In the meantime, prepare for chronic backache! :p

Audrey is about three weeks older than your daughter and so far has not stood up, i did find her sitting on her own in her crib last week but she hasnt repeated it!
My DH and I have no idea what to expect next! Do babes crawl before pulling up into standing positions?
She is almost about to crawl, she's very close, but not yet!
Is she 'behind'? Or should I not even think like that?
Let me know what ya'all think!!!!!

Congrat's again and keep us informed, I love to learn from your and your babies accomplishments!

Grats Ellie!

I read in some book (can't remember which) that crawling isn't considered one of those developemental milestones. :) That some babies go right past crawling.

I am sure Audrey isn't behind, again from reading (since my baby hasn't rolled over its not from experience! hehe) that babies developmental process can be very different from baby to baby. I wouldn't worry about her! I am sure she is doing great! :)

Yay, Ellie!

Hannah, I wouldn't worry too much about Audrey. All kids are different. As long as she's showing interest in moving and getting things then she's fine. Some kids will roll and roll to get what they want and crawl later or just skip crawling and go right to pulling up and walking. Others are more interested in pulling up to stand. It's hard not to compare sometimes, though--we all want our kids to be normal or ahead of the pack!

Yay Ellie!! I just knew that was around the corner!!:balloons Look out mama, time to go invest in new running shoes, I'll be walking next.

Hannah, don't worry about Audrey, my two hit their milestones at very different ages......babies tend to focus on one skill at a time. Some may be more verbal, some may concentrate on gross motor, some fine motor. Just enjoy each new development as they come. Audrey's doing great. Lauren never crawled and walked at 13 months. Ian did not walk until 16 months, he preferred to crawl.

Great info everyone!

Well, I like what you all had to say! And I do think she's focusing on verbal skills right now. I'm not certain but from the sound of it she's mastered Yiddish and is semi-proficient in what sounds like Porteugese!!!!!!!!
And I wont compare, I love hearing about everyone's experiences and am so grateful to know you guys, (even though it's just online so far!)

Yes Hannah, she is defintely crawing, EVERYWHERE!! I do agree every baby is so different. I thought the same thing for Ellie too for a while. Jamie's baby Julia was doing much more physically then Ellie for a bit, and I thought, "whoa, maybe I am holding her so much she isn't developing her muscles". I was wrong. She is off and running, in her own time.
