DomsMom 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 01:10 PM This is my second pregnancy & like the first I'm craving salt. I want pickles, salad with salty ceasar dressing, lots of soup to over salt. Well, to be honest I over salt everything! With Dominic I ate an entire jar of capers with a fork in one sitting. :bag
Saturday SO and I were on our way to a friends house to BBQ & all of the sudden I just had to have something sweet. So Mike starts suggesting places along the way to stop, McDonalds, Wendy's, just whatever we were passing by. I started shooting down his ideas telling him McDonalds only has those crappy apple pies & Wendy's just has frosty's. I don't want a frosty. I'm pretty sure I told him he wasn't listening to me! When in actuality I was making it impossible by only being able to describe what I wanted by saying "something sweet".
God bless my poor patient man that never showed any frustration & kept volenteering ideas for what I might want even though I was being ridiculous. I finally settled on cinnamin crap from McDonalds, I don't know what they are called but in the moment they were the best things I had ever had. He had to go inside because the drive through line was too long & he brought me two just in case. :)
I felt much better after I had eaten them but I'm sure as my hormones do what hormones do it will happen again.
Tell me what you are craving & your crazy hormone stories.
nikkilou 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 01:37 PM When I was pregnant with Samuel I craved hot dogs with mayo...i craved them all the time--I'd wake up at 3am just to heat up a hot dog or 2! Now i rarely eat them!
DomsMom 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 02:02 PM Mmm, that sounds good.
iroquoisprinces 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 02:20 PM With my first preg, all I wanted was salty, greasy fast food. Chicken and fries from Long Johns, big mac meals, and Double cheeseburger and fries from burger king. Non stop.
This time around I rarely have any and if I do its for mcdonalds dipped cones.... mmm... I sure could go for one right now.... lol
Amanda
jinglelady 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 02:25 PM When I first got pregnant, about a month in I had an insane craving for an Einstein bagel. For Lunch! It was the best thing ever. :)
Other than that, I haven't really had a craving since. Although my husband might disagree with me.....for some reason the thought of a lunchmeat sandwiches turn my stomach right now, so I've been having PB&J for a month and a half for lunch. Hubby thinks its crazy. :) I think they're yummy. So maybe that's a craving, but I've just been satisfying it regularly.
DomsMom 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 02:26 PM Yea, I love the greasy fast food too. I have two words for you Chicken......Express
Kati 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 03:18 PM I'm 19 weeks this week, and let me say this: What DON'T I crave??!! LOL I was making my breakfast this morning in our breakroom here at work/church, and saw a GIANT can of baked beans. I laughed and told the girl beside me, "I could SO eat that entire can of beans right now!" It was only 8 in the morning too. :) I'm so glad us pregnant women can get away with stuff like that and not care too much about what people think :) Hey, it's all for the baby is what I say!
ReneeElise 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 03:28 PM Kati - I'm 19w this week, too!
Strawberries, strawberries, strawberries. All day long, strawberries.
And a couple of times a bean burrito, but they demolished our taco bell for renovation! :(
Jewel6599 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 03:34 PM I'm only 7 1/2 weeks so I'm still in the nauseated stage. However, I told DH today that have suddenly been craving sweets. Maybe because I'm not eating them much right now. I dunno. Kinda early for cravings, if you ask me. That said, POPSICLES are making this nausea thing so much better. :) At least I fel better while eating them.
gigi 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 03:37 PM Sweets, sweets and more sweets! Oranges, chocolate (Dove) and cake! I swear I have to force myself to eat any kind of protein!
Byrdo 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 04:08 PM SALT is a big one for me but I also want cheese sticks, like every day lol
Shirelle 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 04:30 PM OT, but Did anyone else notice the ad for compulsive eating help up in the top right hand corner of the page? :lol

I think SO gets as many cravings as I do, lol. He insisted on meat loaf for dinner on Sunday even though he wasn't going to be home until late & was going to have to eat it reheated.:rolleyes
Then I sent him to the bread store for french bread & when I got home I noticed he had bought a huge bag of peppermint pillow mints & a box of those cheap popsicles in the plastic sleeves. :dunno
Kati 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 04:57 PM OT, but Did anyone else notice the ad for compulsive eating help up in the top right hand corner of the page? :lol
LOL I now have an ad at the left side of the page that says "Craving sweets??" LOL
Cheyenne 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 05:03 PM I craved mexican food with both of my pregnancies. I would eat it morning, noon and night. Especially LaFinca's tortilla soup!!
AubreyMalee 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 08:43 PM Last pregnancy I craved white rice and tartar sauce (not together).
This time I have craved:
an icee
ice cream from McDonalds (and nowhere else)
pickle chips
I am only in week 12. I wonder what will be next.
jennechristy 03-24-2009 Tuesday, 09:15 PM The only craving that has been consistent is grapefruit. I've eaten one or two everyday for the last two months! I almost never ate grapefruit before I was pregnant.
Other cravings have been olives, pickles, pickled okra, and mac-n-cheese. yum!
starlaf 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 12:55 AM I totally thought that you weren't supposed to eat hot dogs and lunchmeat during pregnancy, so I didn't. And, oh man, did I crave hot dogs!!! Are you guys telling me that I could've had them? Oh, the regret...:giggle
Roxy 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 02:35 AM anything i can order and dont have to make or clean up. craving laziness ;)
jennechristy 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 06:24 AM I totally thought that you weren't supposed to eat hot dogs and lunchmeat during pregnancy, so I didn't. And, oh man, did I crave hot dogs!!! Are you guys telling me that I could've had them? Oh, the regret...:giggle
You are right, No lunch meat. Hot dogs are okay if they are cooked at a really high temp.
BTW, I love your daughter's name. We are planning on naming our baby girl Penelope too!
LilysMama 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 09:03 AM I'm in week 9 - when the nausea's not bad I want fruit - especially strawberries. My DH LOVES hot dogs and I've never been a big fan - now they smell all sweaty and make me wanna puke - so no worries there so far. I really want fish lately too. Just simple things like a filet o fish from mc donalds.
Jewel6599 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 09:58 AM I have been craving Sonic ice - weird, I know. DH got me a Route 44 cup FULL of ice last night - it ws THE best!!!! LOL Also, beef is a real turn-off to me these days.
LilysMama 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 10:08 AM I have been craving Sonic ice - weird, I know. DH got me a Route 44 cup FULL of ice last night - it ws THE best!!!! LOL Also, beef is a real turn-off to me these days.

It seems like I've heard craving ice is a sign of a certain vitamin/mineral deficiency. I'm gonna google it. Update: It's an iron deficiency. Here is the link...

Pork is my major turn off for me. I don't even wanna smell it. With the exception of bacon which I love because it's so salty.
I wonder why we crave so many things while we are PG?
Jewel6599 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 10:29 AM Honestly, I think my craving for ice is due to the fact that I cannot keep many drinks down, and yet, I am so thirsty. The ice stays down and helped satisfy the thirst. Right now, I am only drinking Sprite and lemonade. Water makes the nausea worse, as does milk. OJ hurts my tummy.
DomsMom 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 10:35 AM That makes sense too. Morning sickness is the worst! I'm so sorry for you. Have you tried ginger ale? That's what worked the best for me.
LilysMama 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 10:36 AM Organic Sparkling apple juice has worked wonders for me for GERD, morning sickness and constipation - I have a cup/night.
Jewel6599 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 11:17 AM Oh, that sounds good, Amanda! Where'd you get it? I love sparkling cider!
Hey, and if there was an iron deficiency...wouldn't that have been picked up after the blood draw??? (I did have this with my first pregnancy.)
Beth Red 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 11:22 AM Vivien- cherry coke slurpees
Silas- (only in the first trimester) beefsteak tomatoes with salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar
DomsMom 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 11:37 AM I 've been eating cut up tomatoes with Cavenders seasoning. Mmmmm.
starlaf 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 11:44 AM I am not even pregnant and you guys are giving me cravings! I love love love tomatoes with balsamic and s&p.
Jenn-Thanks!! I love the name Penelope and always planned on using it. Then when I was pregnant and we told our family the name everyone went on and on about how awful it was!! Can you believe that? How rude! I ended up telling them that I didn't care what they thought. She is our kid and we will name her whatever we like! I think it is a beautiful name.
LilysMama 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 12:06 PM Oh, that sounds good, Amanda! Where'd you get it? I love sparkling cider!
Hey, and if there was an iron deficiency...wouldn't that have been picked up after the blood draw??? (I did have this with my first pregnancy.)
Sprouts, and they've been 2/$4. I stocked up! :thumbup
bunkie68 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 02:45 PM My current craving: soda. Diet Dr Pepper, Diet Coke, whatever. And I don't want caffeine-free, either!
KatrinaMarie 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 02:49 PM Depends on the week! lol This week has been double cheeseburgers from Mc D's. And anything salty! It's insane. With Dakota I craved very healthy food. Especially fruits. I was hoping it would be that way this time. But apparently not! :P
roasten 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 06:53 PM Baked potatoes and vanilla milkshakes. They're easy to keep down.
I'm having spicy Thai soup tonight. I've been eating spicy food the last few days in hopes that I'll go into labor. No luck yet...just heartburn!
Jewel6599 03-25-2009 Wednesday, 07:02 PM Ah, yes - baked potatoes are good!
DomsMom 03-26-2009 Thursday, 11:22 AM Baked potatoes and vanilla milkshakes. They're easy to keep down.
I'm having spicy Thai soup tonight. I've been eating spicy food the last few days in hopes that I'll go into labor. No luck yet...just heartburn!
I want some pho! Being PG makes me like spicy too & that sounds like it would hit the spot!
BostonMa 03-26-2009 Thursday, 11:35 AM OK, I'm not pregnant, but thought I'd share what my cravings were.
I was a vegetarian up until my first pregnancy. I have only had red meat a couple of times as a kid. When I was pregnant with Aiden, I craved cheeseburgers something fierce!! Dh refused to let me have one, thinking it would make me sick. I also craved spicy food. I used to want to go to Tino's Too just to eat their salsa. Spicy, spicy food, right up until the very end.
I'm also not a sweets eater. When I was pregnant with Gracie, I ate sweets constantly. Hard candies, brownies, cookies, ice cream (the one sweet I still crave :bag). I also craved veggies and salads constantly.
Now the funny thing is each kid does not like the foods I craved while pregnant with them. Aiden does not really like much protein and loves all veggies. Grace hates almost all veggies and loves protein. Neither of them is big on sweets too often.
jewelrylady 03-26-2009 Thursday, 01:00 PM With my pregnancy with Ellie.....I craved soft serve ice cream like there was no tomorrow and it had to be from Chick fa la. I couldn't get enough of it! I also ate and ate beefsteak tomatoes with salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar like Beth mentioned. Our produce guy down the street would pull some good ones out for me daily so I could swing my and pick them up. :lol
With this one, popcorn and more popcorn but it needs to be either Popsecret or popped the old fashion way on the range top. I confused my older kids when I was making it that way. They had never seen popcorn made in a pot on the range with melted butter put on the top. My DSS actually put the blob of butter directly on top of the popcorn instead of melting it. I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to fall off my chair. :giggle
I'm also hooked on blackberries, raspberrie and strawberried dipped in brown sugar. Yummy!!!
I too, chew tons of Sonic ice or crushed ice from the freezer which I'm sure is not good for my dental work but......darn is it good! Add some of the flavored carbonated waters and I'm in heaven! :thumbup Note to self....call dh and have him bring me a bottle on his way home. :)
TaeRuss 03-27-2009 Friday, 09:50 AM I'm only 7 1/2 weeks so I'm still in the nauseated stage. However, I told DH today that have suddenly been craving sweets. Maybe because I'm not eating them much right now. I dunno. Kinda early for cravings, if you ask me. That said, POPSICLES are making this nausea thing so much better. :) At least I fel better while eating them.
Still in the nauseated phase too. The only thing I'm craving is eating period, without feeling sick. LoL. I'm craving an appetite right now! I think I will try the popsicles too. Right now, minty stuff helps the nausea for me, peppermints, candy cane, minty gum. Whatever. I think I read about it on one of the posts on here and tried it. It does help; but I wouldn't call it a craving because I get tired of eating it all the time.
LilysMama 03-27-2009 Friday, 11:34 AM OK, I LOVE filet o fish from mcdonalds prior to pregnancy I can honestly say I haven't eaten there in years, but WOW all of a sudden I want it all the time - fighting the urge, lol.
joates 03-28-2009 Saturday, 04:07 PM The worst things possible, fried catfish and shrimp and swedish meatballs from Ikea. I also like fruit (blackberries, strawberries)
joates 03-28-2009 Saturday, 04:08 PM Yea, I love the greasy fast food too. I have two words for you Chicken......Express
The fried okra and sweet tea are to die for, but since pregnant, it doesn't sound so good LOL
LilysMama 03-28-2009 Saturday, 05:58 PM OMG - I had the worst craving for chocolate milk today and my DH ran out and got me some oak farms from 7-11, Mmmmmmmm! :)
