Thanks.

At Baylor Downtown with Susan, MW (no longer in Texas). No Doula, but my very good, caring friend Cori (MW) came and kept me company.

Hospital - Medical City Dallas
Doctor - Dr. McClintock
Doula - Delilah Ray - She is awesome!

Looking back, I was very lucky that I got my VBAC. At my 6 week pp visit, my OB told me that if she would have known how big William was she won't have used the vacuum. He was 8lbs 12oz and she said he was a "tight" fit. She told me that she would monitor my next pregnancy and if my baby was big I would need a c-section. She is the same OB that sectioned me with Matthew, but that was because I had a fever and his heart rate was an issue.

I know that if/when I have #3 I will be swithing OBs. Dr. Downey in Richardson and Dr. Cummings in Denton are both known for being pro-VBAC. I interviewed Dr. Downey with William's pregnancy, but decided to stay with my OB when she was supportive of my VBAC, or so I thought. Dr. Downey was very nice and I really like him. I met Dr. Cummings at the ICAN meeting last week and he was awesome! I plan to go to him for #3. I would recommend that you make an appt. to talk to both Dr. Downey & Dr. Cummings.

Delilah is a fantastic doula. I cannot say enough good things about her. She was amazing when I was in labor and I definitely could not have coped with the pain if she wouldn't have been there. She also teaches a child birth class that I would highly recommend taking as well.

Amy, Keira was my VBAC baby and she was 10.1 pounds. Don't let size keep you back. My OB told me she was supportive, but kept giving me excuses for why she would do a c-section. One was the size of the baby. She said she would not do anything over 9 pounds. Thankfully, halfway through my pregnancy I got smart and switched to my MW. I had a perfect VBAC with no complications. Had I stayed with my OB, I would have had another c-section without even trying for a vaginal delivery.

Jamie - I was so irritated/disappointed when I left my appt. last week. I don't know why people think that big baby means c-section. I did think about you because I knew that Keira was your biggest. My OB told me that she would expect my next one to be over 9lbs, but that is no reason for a c-section. I refuse to have a c-section again, unless it is medically necessary (ex. pre-e, or something along those lines). I didn't argue with my OB about it because I didn't feel it was worth it. I am just so thankful that I got my VBAC!

Cindy - Sorry I got off on a tangent. :) I know you will find a supportive Dr. or MW and you too will have a successful VBAC!

Amy, Keira was actually NOT my biggest. Sevi was, at 10.8. My OB was pushing me for a c-section in the end but I refused. I ended up with an emergency one in the end because she was tangled in her cord. So there is hope for you that your third might be smaller then your second. ;)

Sorry Cindy. As you can tell, we get very passionate about our VBACs and C-sections.

Had mine at Baylor downtown, used Lindsay Kragle Stephens, CNM (started with Susan Akins, but then she moved, so switched to Lindsay), used Delilah as my doula. I had a WONDERFUL birth team. Just awesome. Had as close to a perfect vaginal birth/VBAC as it comes. Am heartbroken that Lindsay is leaving her practice, but plan to stick with that practice (www.wha-docs.com (http://www.wha-docs.com)) by switching to Jane (the other midwife). Looking forward to seeing who they hire to replace Lindsay.

I am so sad Lindsay left as well. Jane is great but I was really looking forward to going through an entire pregnancy with her the next time around. I switched to her at 30 weeks because when it came time to discuss L&D with my ob his response to everything I wanted that wasn't uber traditional was "the hospital (presby Dallas) won't allow it." I ended up having to have a c-section anyways but I felt secure in knowing that Lindsay and my doula tried everything possible to help me deliver vaginally.

Presby Plano - Dr Garner. I changed to him at 33 weeks after my regular OBGYN started giving me vibes that he's not really VBAC friendly. Best thing I ever did.

Presby Plano LET you do a VBAC? I was told it was their policy they don't. Interesting.

Well, it is UNLIKELY you can get a VBAC at Plano Presby, but it's not completely impossible. The 2006 VBAC success rate at PHOP was 2.1%, so 97.9% of women who gave birth there and had previously had a cesarean, had another cesarean. But SOMEONE had to be in the 2.1%...

Does anyone know where Lindsay Stephens went? She was so wonderful with me and throughout my entire pregnancy with my first. I would love to find her when we're gearing up for our 2nd kiddo. I will have to have a VBAC....I had some complications and had to have a c-section. Lindsay tried everything to help me deliver vaginally, but it just didn't work out that way. Even though it didn't go as planned, she was so great with my husband and I and was there the whole time. She is absolutely wonderful!

One of my friends recently have a sucessful VBAC at Baylor Dallas with Delilah as her doula. I forget the name of her Dr , but it doesn't really matter because he was not there that day anyway & pretty much had nothing to do with the outcome.

From what I hear, Dr Cummings is AWESOME!

From what I understand Lindsay isn't practicing right now. She is taking some time off to sort some stuff out in her personal life. When/if she returns it will be at another practice and I am sure someone on DAM will know about it. ;) Someone correct me if this info isn't correct.

She is in transition to join Tania Lopez and the other midwives at JPS in Ft. Worth. I am not sure when she will be able to do deliveries, but she has accepted a position there.

1st vbac:
Where you had it--Medical Center of Plano
Name of doctor/midwife Dr. Keith Reisler, he wasn't on call so a different dr actually delivered Harry. I can't think of his name, right now.
Name of doula, if used none

2nd vbac was here in CO. Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, with an OB, no doula. I tried switching to a certified nurse-midwife practice but they weren't able to take me because their back up OB's wouldn't allow it. They were worried about my scar holding up because of the way I was sewn back up.

Delilah- Another reason I love you. You know all that statistic stuff! I'm pretty sure you're an angel in disguise.

OP-
I haven't had my VBAC yet, but we're planning on it!
If we don't have it at home, we'll have it at Family Centered Birth Center (I always forget the exact name of it, ha) It's in Richardson.
My midwife is Kathleen Mayorga, here office is at the Allen Birth Center (they don't do VBAC at that center)
My doula is the beautiful amazing Delilah, and we're taking her classes too. Can't WAIT for July!

Um... I think that's all the questions. Good luck!
