DFW Area Moms - Bringing Moms Together Since 2002
I'm sure most of us believe in family dinners. Who wouldn't want to enjoy sitting around the table enjoying each other's company, with a good meal and no distractions? And, then reality hits us. We have soccer practice, band concerts, play rehearsals, homework, work emails, conference calls, and a million other commitments pulling us in different directions. And, that is multiplied with multiple children! So, here's the down and dirty on family meals, and then you can take the info and incorporate it in whichever way works best for your family.
First, let's tackle they why's.
- According to The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA), frequent family dinners (more then 3 per week) make your teen less likely to use drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
- Family dinners help to strengthen connections among family members and provide opportunities for your teen to discuss their day-to-day experiences.
- It can help...
Pretty much everyone knows the 2 characters as a dynamic duo: *4-H* - YEAH!!
Most haven't a clue what the 'H' stands for -- even some 4-Hers don't always recall them.
And when they DO, many don't thoroughly understand the life skills involved in those words.
They stand for 4 very simple terms that carry weighty responsibilities:
Each category of 'H' represents a specific skill set of core values that deal in management, service, work, and well being.
Every project that a student pursues should include aspects of each area -- when my son did his "Socio Economic Impact of...

Are you looking for a great way to keep your kids entertained, off the electronics, out of the heat, and out of trouble? Want summer fun and great memories without spending a ton? Look no further!
Think back to the 80s… The arcades, the time with friends, the great cartoons, hanging out at the mall, and the once in a while when your parents wanted some good ol' family fun... what did you end up doing those many Saturday nights?
BOWL Of course!
Now you can do the same for your kids!
During the summer, bowling alleys around the country let kids under 15 bowl 2 games free every day! That is two free games for each child in your family. In my family, that’s two hours of blissful kid happiness, and a little down time for me! For the price of shoe rental and maybe a drink (of the adult kind?).
Like a lot of little girls, I always knew I wanted to be a Mommy someday. Not yet knowing exactly what the parenting process really consisted of, I swore to my young self that I would be the perfect Mom! I wouldn't make my daughter perform mindless chores, or clean up the maze of Barbie and Hotwheel setups in her room, and I would do anything to protect my future youngest child from their big brother or sister. I loved my parents with all my heart and respected them, but why, oh why, were they always grounding me, hiding my makeup and forcing me to unload the dishwasher? It seemed so silly, by the time I grew up dishwashers would load themselves anyways, and robots would clean the house, or so I thought.
Fast forward through those rough teenage years, my first job, high school graduation, and some terrible mistakes, and all of a sudden I'm pregnant. I think, Well, I managed to make it almost to 21 before unexpectedly starting a family, I can handle this. And we did. I was...
I'm a complete novice at gardening. I have never been terribly successful at keeping things alive.
So, this past weekend, we set out on a mission to makeover my front flower beds. But, I knew we'd need some help...help that we may not find at a big box store. We made our way over to a place in Frisco on Preston, just south of Rockhill that I'd driven by countless times but had never stopped at...Cristina Stone and Garden Center. For the record, I was...
I recently had the opportunity to visit the museum with 3 of my children ages 12, 10 and 3. The experience overall was very fun and entertaining for all.
One can make it through the museums various stages in about 30 minutes if just casually wandering through the observing each display. Adults will get a kick out of reading up on the history of some of the gaming consoles and games that were in their line up as a kid. It was hit and miss for my young ones to want to listen to the story behind the relics of video game past, but they had fun playing the games that entertained mom and dad back in their day.
The entire place is visually interesting and captures the evolution of video games and lots and lots of video game...
